Yes, you can draw and color on the cover of the book. My daughter used crayons to decorate cover and it looks beautiful

I loved the books for watercolor. I put drawings on the front, then painted them. Thoughout the book, I added little drawings and flowers and smart-y sayings. The books took the medium very, very well. Will send a picture of the painted covers if you would like. Would love to attach a photo.
