Best value lens in my kit
I've tried all of the other Samyang/Rokinon Cine lenses available and own the 24mm as well (which is not nearly as sharp as this one). This 85mm is the sharpest of the set, and even wide open it is not bad at all. The build quality is the weakest attribute and is probably a 7/10 and doesn't really compare with other cine lenses (that are also much much more expensive), but the colors and details that the lens captures are on par with lenses in the $4,000 range. Contrast ratio is also comparable when intercut with more expensive lenses, but I haven't done any proper tests. This is really the only Samyang/Rokinon lens in the set that is a no brainer buy for video work (based on the performance to value ratio), but I would not recommend this to a buyer who often lets others handle his/her gear. I don't think this lens will last long with any level of abuse. I would absolutely recommend it to others, but I wouldn't expect to get a lifetime of work out of it like the other cine alternatives.

Good quality construction that reminds me of the old Pentax manual lenses I used to use. The focusing ring is well dampened, and isn't loose. Bokeh is very pleasing to the eye.

Stunning portrait lens, as well as being a superb video lens.
I REALLY like this lens. The color rendition is very well suited to portraiture, as well as being very classy looking for video work. I've never used the geared rings for anything other than manual use (where they're great, btw, and better than the conventional rubber grips in my view) but they're there if you have the technology to drive them.Sharpness? Very good indeed. Not Summicron 50mm good, but very good, especially at this price. It's remarkably sharp in the corners too (not that it matters all that much really), so they really put in their homework on the optics. I'd compare it very favorably with a Nikon 85mm f1.4 I've borrowed, which costs 4x as much (although it does have autofocus).Bokeh? Stunning. Smooth and creamy. You want the background to melt away like it did with your old Canon FD 50mm f1.4? Here's a cost effective way to do it on a modern camera body. There's a TINY amount of vignetting in the corners on a full-frame sensor at f1.4, but only noticeable if you're looking for it. Again, it's not actually important and I doubt anyone but an anal retentive editor reviewing a extremely unlikely blank grey image would even be able to see it in real-life. If you stop down even the tiniest bit, even a 50% grey background is absolutely even to the corners. For the money, this is a total no-brainer - an excellent portrait lens, a classy looking video lens which can plays well color balance and contrast-wise with your other nice glass, and the only 'downside' is manual focusing. Hardly a deal breaker in a studio setting, especially in the age of focus confirmation. If you can live with that, this is a wonderful addition to your lens collection for very little outlay.

¡Excelente!

Really Great Portrait Lens for the Price
I use this lens on m43 cameras with a Metabones Speedbooster. I'm super happy with it. The renderings are great, and the build quality is super solid. There's a slight amount of chromatic aberration and glow when shooting wide open. However, stopping down just a little removes this.As this lens is manual focus, it's not great for quick, run and gun shoots. But if you're in to manual focus, you'll love it. Would happily recommend this lens to anybody for portrait photography. A steal of a deal in my opinion.

This is a great lens, and a steal at the price
Killer sharp at T 2.8. This is a great lens, and a steal at the price. It goes a bit soft wide open, though. But once you're stopped down to 2.0 or 2.8, it's super sharp even for 4K video

Rusted screw
The photo quality is really sharp, the only thing that I’m not happy is the rusted screw of the lens.
