can I use this on new hardwood floors to remove gunk the builder left or will the green pad damage the finish?

The green pad will strip the finish off your hardwood floor.  It is very coarse and I used it to scrub my concrete floor in the basement after a flood.  The least abrasive pad available on Amazon is the white one, but even that may be too rough.  There is also a terrycloth "bonnet" that is used for polishing floors.  I would try that with a non-abrasive solvent to avoid damaging the finish.  Can you find out from the builder what the stuff is on the floor and Google how to remove it safely?  Best of luck!

can this be use on laminated floor?

I needed to strip old polish off my Laminate floor, and I used the red pad , 1/2 Stripper & 1/2 water in a spray bottle. And it worked wonderfully. Floor looks like new.

OK -- so the answer to your question is Yes and No.  This pad although less abrasive then other pad will work great on tile, unpolished natural stone, cement floors and anywhere the surface is relatively hard, not porous and not highly polished.  We have used this pad to clean out travertine floors, grout, and other similar surfaces and it does an outstanding job.  On these surfaces it is not too abrasive and so it cleans very well.  If you are looking to polish your floors using a polishing compound this would be a great pad to use as it would apply the compound well and it would retain the compound within the pad.  Cleaning the pad is simple and easy just rinse it out and let it dry.  This pad will last quite a while depending on the usage -- it will thin out and compress over time.  Our lasted about two months using it weekly on our floors, grout, and bathroom tile with polishing compounds.  Hope this provides the answer you seek.
