How to delete intervals on this device - not intuitive!
I love this interval timer, but it was an absolute chore to figure out how to change a saved program once I had entered it and then later changed my mind and wanted to update it and save again. I asked the question here on Amazon and no one responded, so I'm assuming nobody else has needed to do this (or has figured it out). The instructions indicate you should just go into your saved program, change it to however you want it, and then save it. But it's not that simple, and I exchanged at least a dozen emails or more with the company before realizing how I needed to change it. They were responsive about answering my question in a timely way, but their responses didn't clear up the confusion. So after a bunch of emailing, I had pretty much given up on being able to change an existing saved program. And there is only room on the device for about 20 different saved programs, so you wouldn't want to have to keep creating new ones as you changed your mind about a workout. So here are the details of what I needed to do and how I did it: Let's say you have saved a workout in the Multi category and it has 7 different intervals. Then you change your mind and want to eliminate interval 4 so you'll only have 6 intervals. You can't go into the saved workout and delete interval 4. There is no delete option on this device. Also, the device won't let you set interval 4 to last zero seconds. I tried that and the minimum number of seconds it will allow is 2 seconds. So I thought the best I could do is have a bogus interval 4 that lasted 2 seconds which I would have to ignore. The critical piece of missing information that nobody mentions is that you have to go into the saved workout and RE-ENTER EACH INTERVAL FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END. If you re-enter each interval, you can make intervals 1, 2, and 3 the way you want them, then you make interval 4 look like the old interval 5 looked, and you make interval 5 look like the old 6 looked, and the final interval CAN be brought down to zero seconds. And then you can save it that way and you have essentially deleted interval 4. When you re-save a workout, it overlays the previous version of that workout, so you won't be wasting one of your 20 on a useless workout. I guess I could have rated this unit less than 5 stars because of the terrible instructions and the less-than-helpful email responses, but the unit itself is really great. So I decided to rate it based on that instead. And as others have said here, be sure to print the official instructions you can get from the gymboss website rather than trying to use the terrible instructions that will ship with the unit. Armed with the official instructions and the information I listed above, you should be able to figure out how to enter and update some great workout interval programs.

Tabata timer
Been using this for my tabata class for years. Quick easy set up for class. Keeps the class on track. The timer doesn't lie.

Great product that could be even better
First off, a few responses and additions to what I saw in other reviews: 1 - The included manual is well written but incomplete. Several functions are not mentioned. However, that said, after using the directions to set up my first program, I found the controls to be reasonably intuitive with the following exceptions: a) stopping the timer, b) the logic behind the "P" repeat setting is unclear, and c) the alarm setting indicator on the display (lower case b is a soft beep, capital B is a loud beep). 2 - The build quality is solid enough, but could easily be made watertight. The top buttons are also not quite seated properly - slightly misaligned. The function perfectly, though, so this is not an issue. Also, the LCD display will distort a bit when I just rub my finger across the screen - also, not really an issue, but a bit concerning. 3 - Your programs DO stay loaded when you change the battery. If you want to clear them, there is a recessed "reset" button on the edge opposite the "start" button. Now, for the overall pros: 1 - The customization is adequate to use for almost any imaginable interval training you want to do. Using the "multi" mode, you can program up to 25 distinct intervals, with each repeating any given number of times up to 99, and you can have your entire sequence repeat up to 99 times. It's hard for me to imagine a workout that can't be programmed into this thing. 2 - It is light weight and compact. Wearing it on an armband while running, you hardly notice it. 3 - The vibration alarm is just strong enough to be easily noticed without being annoying. 4 - The color scheme looks pretty good. As to the cons: 1 - The GUI is hopelessly out of date - like 1980's out-of-date. It wouldn't be that hard to include a micro USB slot and program an app that would let you program this much more easily - and probably provide even more flexibility in the programs. That would also free up display space. 2 - Only a few color schemes to choose from. This fix is easy, cheap, and will make it more appealing to more users right away. Overall, if you're looking for a simple device that gives you plenty of flexibility to create the workout you want, this is a great device. I highly recommend it.

All I have to do is press start
My old stopwatch bit the dust. On it I was able to program an interval and the number of Reps for my daily exercises. I was unable to replace the Watch with another that would do the same thing. Instead I used the interval notice app on Amazon Echo until that stopped working. Then I resorted to manual Counting trying to keep track of intervals and number of reps in my mind. then one day I thought of using the search criteria of exercise timer on Amazon. I came across the gymboss products. I saw that the second level product would do what my old stopwatch did. I immediately ordered the second level gymboss. a bit later I looked at the Minimax gymboss and saw its potential. I immediately cancelled the original order and ordered a Minimax. When it arrived I spent a bit of time using the materials sent with it and the directions that I found online to do the programming for my exercise routines. I was able to program multiple exercises with different intervals and numbers of reps. As the Minimax allows storage of that program as well as leaving it active, it's always there for me when I start my routine. All I have to do is press the start button. I am absolutely delighted with the Minimax. I can't imagine going back 2 my old stopwatch where I had to program each routine with each interval and each number reps. Do I wish there were some other features on the Minimax? Yes. For example I wish the beep at the end of a rep was a single beep rather than the double beep. I suppose the double beep is better for a noisy environment but my environment is quiet. I also wish there was the ability to program a different tone at the end of a routine. But all considered I love this little machine. It's so much easier than my old stopwatch where I had to program each routine with its interval and number of reps. All I have to do is press start

Supercharge your workouts with this timer
This is a fantastic timer that has all the options you could possibly need. I bought it to do Tabata-style intervals (20/10x8). It has 3 interval modes (1, 2, 3+). I used the 2-interval mode to program a 20/10x8 Tabata cycle in a few button presses. I also use it in 1-interval mode as a rest timer during weight workouts. After my set, I start the timer for a 30-second rest interval. If you have a tendency to dawdle and socialize at the gym, this timer will help you stay on track and get your workout in a shorter amount of time. The construction is solid, the belt clip is strong enough to hold on during a workout and it has a rubber coating. It has options for soft beep, loud beep, and vibrate signal. You can combine any or all of these if you like. About the only thing they could add to improve this timer might be a larger LCD or a backlight for readability, however, only if they could keep the current size/weight.

A must have for trainers and workout fanatics!
I love this product. I'm a trainer and have been using the gymboss for over 10 years. It's great for interval training and mma/boxing. It has a rubber coating for grip and protection in case you drop it. It's conveniently small, the controls are intuitive, and very durable.

Great timer, but poor durability. Still, would buy again.
Great timer! Easy and effective. Only lasts about a year with about 4 hours of use per week. I've bought 2 and both got visible water droplets stuck under the screen from just sweat before eventually becoming unresponsive.

Gymboss miniMax workout timer
This little timer is so much more convenient than using a watch, stopwatch or cell phone timer. It has a variety of timer functions and the individual functions are multi-programmable. I have mine set for a warmup period and a workout period for workout days and a ten cycle timer for walking and running. The walking running is set for 45 seconds running and 1 minute walking for ten cycles. You can set it up for as many cycles as you like, up to I believe 99. It weighs next to nothing and comes with a clip that I just attach to the waistband of my shorts when I am running/walking. Great and inexpensive tool for timed workouts.
