After meeting with my Reproductive Endocrinologist for the first time about two weeks ago, he advised me that I had an autoimmune disorder that was affecting my fertility. Although the doctor didn't delve much into it, women who are overweight, have endometriosis, asthma, and hypothyroidism are at a high risk of infertility. However, this can apparently be reversed by healing your body. He didn't want me eating any sugar in order to accomplish this, and he put me on a ketogenic diet. He steered me towards Maria Emmerich's books (as well as Jimmy Moore's books). When I left his office I was very overwhelmed, not knowing where to start; so I did as he advised and ordered several of her books. This one was the first one I opened and the wealth of information has proved invaluable. Keeping in mind that this is supposed to be a cookbook, Ms. Emmerich went above and beyond in explaining what a ketogenic diet is and how to get started. It's also a handbook on what a ketogenic lifestyle looks like. What I thought would be impossible for me to do, Ms. Emmerich has made it not just possible, but enjoyable. The recipes in the book are tasty and easy. You can find recipes to satisfy specific cravings such as an upside down pizza. There are also recipes to satisfy my dessert cravings (although even those have substantially decreased after two weeks of eating Keto!). The only hard-to-find ingredients for me were the Stur water enhancers and the Swerve confectioner's sweetener; however, I ordered both of those through desertcart Prime, so in the end I guess they are not that hard to find! After two weeks of using this cookbook to plan all of my meals, I lost about 4.5 pounds. On my previous diet I was losing about 1/2 a pound a week. I have since then subscribed to Maria Emmerich's Keto-adapted site. For people like me, who have been put on a ketogenic diet by a doctor, Maria Emmerich has not just made the transition tolerable, but enjoyable. The day I left the endocrinologist's office I cried because if I wanted to ever have a baby I wouldn't be able to eat fruits, sugar, wheat, or starchy vegetables. Now, and thanks to this book and other recipes in Ms. Emmerich's other books, I barely miss these food items (and I feel healthier!). Buy this book, and then check out her web sites (she has two). You won't be disappointed.

Maria Emmerich's Best Yet! Ketogenic in a easy to read-recipe filled book!
OMG! Maria has done it again! The Quick & Easy Keto Cooking cookbook is AWESOME! I've been a Maria Emmerich fan since April 2012. She helped me manage a pituitary tumor issue w/ nutrition & supplements. I did a personal consult, have purchased her cookbooks and reading books, I'm on her Keto-Adapted website and I follow her on facebook - I'm not a stalker, I just find she has the best information about food, nutrition & supplements out there... I have read Secrets to a Health Metabolism & Keto-Adapted, both are excellent reads, but to some the books can be information overload, so this Ketogenic Cooking cookbook, I found, to be a SUPER DUPER CONDENSED version of those two books (not to say you don't need to read them, too, but this cookbook gets you sucked in, then you're ready to get even more info w/ the above mentioned books!), with recipes galore! I'm in deep, finding those above mentioned books to not be too much, but my friends, whom I'm trying to get on board to live a healthier lifestyle, may find the new info overwhelming, but in this cookbook, it's sooo clear, condensed, easy to read & understand - it's AWESOME and I want to buy it for everyone I know!!! Maria's cookbook is full of color, pretty photos of food, lots of information that makes it easy to start this KETO lifestyle - with the information explaining where to get your ingredients, what types and WHY... I can't say enough good things about it! Buy the cookbook & get healthy!!! Then head on over & pick up her KETO-ADAPTED book, it's an excellent secondary read!!!

I LOVE this cookbook!
Just received the book today and oh my gosh, I find that I cannot put it down! The book is so much more than a cookbook, it is a wealth of information which will no doubt help a lot of people, especially those that are just starting out on this journey. It actually explains the science behind this way of eating, and includes a meal plan which will be especially helpful to those of us that sometimes get overwhelmed. The food (pictures) look absolutely yummy, and one glance at the recipe reassured me that I could replicated it. The recipes are well explained, and some of them even have URLs listed for videos that accompany them. The recipes each have icons that are extremely helpful, one glance can tell me if the recipe is egg free, nut free, dairy free, vegetarian, can be made in a slow cooker, can be made in one pot, or has a single serving option. Since I am the only member in my family that is currently following this diet, the single serving option will be especially useful for me. When this book arrived, my husband rolled his eyes at me and asked "...another cookbook?". He then picked it up to skim through and almost immediately said "oooh, we'll have to try that chimichurri chicken!". For the record, this is my very first ketogenic specific cookbook and I loved it so much that I came back online and ordered the kindle version for my best friend. Well done, Maria...absolutely well done! Update: I've had this book for almost a week now, the recipes are FANTASTIC. I just made (and ate) the Key lime Fat Bomb (pg 340), ...it was absolutely spot on!!!! 98 calories, 9.4g fat, 0.3g carbs, 3.3g protein. (plus a bit of cream on it that I added). It TASTES absolutely sinful!

So far so good
At the time of this writing I am currently on the 30 day dairy free meal plan from the book. I do wish they had offered shopping list for the 30 day DF plan but they do not. I guess that is why you purchase meal plans from her website (although the meals in this book have been better than the meals in her meal plan through her website, in my opinion). They do not offer shopping lists for either of the 30 day meal plans in the book, only the 7 day plans for weightloss/heal & 7 day maintenance. There is no 7 day dairy free meal plan. However, the 7 day plans seem to be a bit of a waste, because one day may call for an item that has 4 servings, but you might not repeat that item again for any of the 7 days, and other items may be a serving of 1. So if it's just for you then you'll have to pare down the recipes for 1, or either plan to freeze a lot. So that's sort of a bummer. For the 30 day plans I do like that most of the meals are for 4 servings, and she uses the leftovers across the 30 days. I do not have to scale the recipes down just for me, and for the most part the leftovers will be eaten later in the week or the next week, with few having to be frozen. And it was easy enough to substitute items I don't eat (like the mussels) for something with similar fat/carb/protein content. I can't say all of the recipes I have tried have been quick and easy, but so far most have tasted good. I made the coffee ice cream and used the recommended salt amount and it tastes like saltcream and I can't even eat it. I have noticed this in a few of her recipes, and in her meals plans I purchased from her site, so add sparingly, which is what I do now. And I know that different types of salt will taste different, and I've tried celtic seal salt and pink Himalayan salt in her recipes. But it's just too much at the amount a recipe calls for. Lesson learned. I also don't normally use as much sweetener as she calls for either. Maybe my taste buds are changing but I found the amount of Swerve (or other sweetener) to be too much. Taste as you go! The DF chocolate shake on Pg 134 is a winner (minus the salt) as is the Paleo Polenta made from eggplant. The grand marnier fat bombs were pretty good, but mine did not look anything like hers, and I had problems with my Swerve sweetener being crunchy in the fat bomb. The mushroom ragu is a favorite. If you live in a metropolitan area you can probably find many of the pantry items needed, but I ordered most of mine (Swerve/MCT Oil/coconut aminos/egg white protein powder/xanthan gum/guar gum, etc) online because I cannot find them locally, and there are no Whole Foods/TJ's/Earthfare's or high end grocery stores near me.

Deeeelicious!!
I am fairly new in my keto journey. I started following some people on Instagram and several of them kept talking about Maria Emmerich and her books so I decided to get a couple. Quick and Easy ketogenic cooking was the first ones I bought. These are just a few of the many recipes I've tried: Pizza sticks (pg 304) We use to have pizza every Friday night and it was hard to "give up". We had tried several other pizza subs I had found on the internet but they just didn't fill the crave for pizza. I tried Maria's recipe and I can say we actually prefer these over ou r carb loaded tried and true now! These were so good even my 17 yo son ASKS for them! Then I made the Skillet lasagna (pg 266) and this has become a family favorite. We don't miss the noodles and we don't feel guilty for eating it! My son loves loves loves chicken alfredo so I tried Maria's chicken alfredo (pg 246) as a surprise meal one night. Needless to say he was very happy. And he's super glad I found a replacement for the carb heavy version he use to have. And then we tried eggs in purgatory (pg 148). When I first read this recipe I was leary, but oh my stars! I could eat this one everyday - no lie! Then I got my hubby and son taste and though they too were skeptical once they took a bite they were won over. We all thought we'd have to "give up" our favorite meals and good tasting food but Using this cookbook and Keto Comfort Foods by Maria Emmerich we don't feel like we've given up anything and we are feeling GREAT! Why didn't I try Keto sooner? I just ordered another of her books, 30 Day Ketogenic Cleanse. I hope if you're "on the fence" about this book you'll get it and give it a try. In my opinion it does not disappoint. Thank you Maria for all the yummy recipes and great info that you share!!

great Keto recipes
I am new to keto but I am happy with it. I checked out another book written by this author from my local library. I feel like she has a great grasp on keto and her recipes do not make me feel like I am deprived. I do eat dairy though and a lot of her recipes seem to be diary free but that's no matter. I follow her on Instagram too. I also like how she explain the origin of keto and more - like the differences in sweeteners. She is very knowledgeable.

Don't be intimidated, THIS IS THE BOOK if you're starting out
When I was first investigating the Keto way of eating I bought this book based on reviews and read it cover to cover. THE WHOLE THING. I read a couple other cookbooks and a lot of online information. Maria's was thorough and added to my conviction that this was something I should try. However, I was really intimidated by her detailed 'special food' sections and the shopping lists. It seemed like too much for me to tackle, so I put this book aside and started Keto using very basic and not very tasty recipes off the internet. Pile of meat with some sauce and sauteed veggies. Scrambled eggs. Etc. I did that for a week and by the end of that week I could barely eat two bites per meal. My appetite was completely gone. At that point I picked Maria's book BACK up, bought some Swerve and a few other specialties she mentions, and started cooking. And started EATING. My appetite didn't come back until I started making Maria food. It is so delicious, so beautiful, and the stuff in this book is crazy easy to make. I live alone, so I could make a batch of something amazing like her skillet lasagna or mushroom ragu or slow cooker chicken and peppers....and it would last me for a few days. If I cook twice a week and make myself some of her amazing treats, I am set. EMBRACE the taco shells made out of cheese. DIVE IN to huge batches of zoodles. TAKE PICTURES of your beautiful food and eat it. It's so delicious. Not to mention the first 100 pages of reference, which are always useful. I've lost 20 pounds in 3 months eating out of this cookbook. I'm about to buy another one just to add to the fun. I can't recommend this one enough.

Best Keto Book for Dairy Allergy
I have a dairy allergy and I found it so difficult to find dairy-free keto meal plans online and this book was perfect for my needs! Very well laid out and the meals were delicious and helped me drop the weight I wanted. I followed the 30 day dairy free meal plan and loved the recipes. I modified some for my personal tasted, but the basis was great to have. The lamb casserole was delicious, fish tacos, chicken stir-fry and mushroom ragu. Highly recommend this book to help get you started with keto and to keep you on track!

This book is EXCELLENT!!!
I cannot praise this book highly enough. It is well laid out, very informative and easy to follow and the many recipes I have tried so far really are delicious. Maria Emmerich and her husband Craig are true experts in the field of nutritional ketosis. I have several of her books, including one co-written with Jimmy Moore (earlier ones are kindle format) which are all excellent, this one being my absolute favourite. I am also a member of her Keto-Adapted site which is equally superb and invaluable. Have pre-ordered her new 30 day cleanse book. THANK YOU MARIA AND CRAIG. I don't normally do reviews, but I simply had to say thank you. What are you waiting for.....order this book and you will not be disappointed.
