Longevity so far
I can’t remember if I used this in the Tacoma or the highlander but it won’t let me see the product reviewing it. Sound quality was standard for the value, the installation was straightforward and it’s easy to use as any other 3.5mm aux cable. Love having music in my vehicle and this makes it possible. Fit perfectly behind the headunit and it still works after 4 years

works great
I bought 2 of these adapters; one for my 2001 Honda Civic, 2 DR and one for my daughter's car, 2002 Toyota Highlander. Both cars came with stock stereos. The adaptors were plug n play. Our apple phones work fantastic and the sound quality is great. I would recommend them to maintain the original look of the car interiors instead of buying aftermarket stereos which would require new wiring and possibly installation kits. This is definitely a cheaper and faster solution.

Static in the FM and AM radio channels while using the USB port to charge your phone
UPDATE: Product died in 2 days from light use. The wires that connect to the CD Changer port were really loose and cause the unit to sometimes work and not work. The only fix is to constantly have to take out the radio and push the connector on firmly. I think I received a defective unit. Im returning this unit.Product works okay, it met half of my expectations. Installation was fairly easy on my 2001 Toyota Corolla LE with the original radio. Just remove the vent assembly on the front of the radio, 4 Phillips head screws hold the radio in place, and out it goes. Then plug the adapter into the CD changer/accessory port. I then ran the wire under the center console kick panel, and used 2 zip ties to hold the yellow controller box down in place to one of the metal frame rails near the firewall of the car. I then ran the AUX and USB end out from under the glovebox on the passsnger side to keep the interior looking clean and factory original. First con is that the USB and AUX cables are rather short, so I have to buy a 1 meter AUX extension cable in order for the aux to reach to the driver’s side. The USB is fine as is, since I just plug in my phone cable and that makes it long enough to reach the driver’s side of the car. Second con is that you cannot play music through the USB part. It only works through the AUX cable part of it. It’s a bummer but at least it can charge your phone/device I guess.. The biggest con to me is that when you are using the USB port to charge your phone or mobile device, then switch from the CD to either FM or AM radio, all you hear is static on both channels until you unplug your device from the USB port. This basically makes the USB port somewhat useless in my opinion, because the cigarette lighter port can charge your phone much faster via a USB adapter thus making the USB port on this adapter somewhat useless in my case (however, this could be different for other people) I haven’t tried charging a phone while using another device to play music through the AUX yet, but if I get static or interference while doing that, then I’m going to update this review and return the unit. I think this product is great in theory, but has lots of flaws in reality. If these flaws are corrected, then I think this would be a great product because the only reason why I bought this is so I can keep the interior of my car looking factory original while being able to have the features of a more modern radio. If I didn’t care about keeping the interior looking original, then I would save myself the trouble, buy an aftermarket head unit and yank out the old factory radio.

Just what I needed/wanted!
Worked great sn a 2002 Toyota Solara (Camry). Easy install, but note, the USB only supplies power (for charging a device) it did not read my files from my phone. Still a great alternative if you want to keep your factory radio. I paired this with a bluetooth which allowed me to use my device "hands-free"

Interface did not work
This interface did not work with my multiplayer unit in my 2001 IS 200 Lexus which has Euorspec. Do i need any other component to work with it.

Works great on a 1998 Tacoma
This works perfectly on my 1998 Toyota Tacoma. Plugs into the CD-Changer input on the back and gives an AUX-in and a USB port that can charge your phone (very slowly) and play MP3s off a USB stick using the CD controls. Everything works great. There are two slightly annoying quirks. The first is that the AUX-in only works wheb there is not a flash drive plugged in. This means that you can't leave a drive full of music connected all the time and still be able to use the AUX. This is pretty minor, but kind of annoying. The other irritation is that the AUX in is much quieter than the MP3, and slightly quieter than the radio, so it requires volume adjustment when changing source.

Few inputs on the operation
The unit is relatively easy to install with a simple plug and play on the back of the HU.- The volume is low on both the USB and Aux inputs, static at medium to high volume- Need to format the USB folders into CD01, CD02,,,,, and add music to it, reads the files in the order in which it is copied on to the disk- To switch to device press the CD button twice- when both USB and AUX are present, press RPT button to switch between USB and AUX, no need to unplug USBI would give it 5 stars if the static issues are resolved along with the low volume gain on the output
