This one deserves a 5 star rating.The construction is superb and the combination of fire wire 800 and USB 3 make it a very nice portable back up and storage drive for media files. It is so much better than all the other drives I have used, it's not even funny.The only one that comes close is the La Cie rugged, but this one is better!

I had trouble setting up the disk and when I called technical support, the technician was very unhelpful, trying this and that for over an hour, finally blaming my computer for the problem, when it was obvious that he did know what he was doing. I asked to speak to someone else and he rudely kept me on hold for a very long time with no one ever coming to the phone. I do not recommend this product at all! Poor performance and very poor technical support. A waste of time and money.

First one I ordered is still going strong. Second one died in a couple of days... So I will return and try it one more time.

Good product. Solid casing. Does what it's suppose to do. Very mobile. Casing could have been better though but still a great product nonetheless.

OWC drives are fabulous. I have several of these little "On-The-Go" drives for fast backups and portability when needed. Highly recommended.

I purchased this external hard drive in April, 2013. I've been using it as a backup drive only for my Mac laptop, using the Firewire 800 connection. It was set up with Time Machine for automatic backups and has worked fine…… until this morning.It now will not mount at all, using different ports, different cords, different Macs. Tried Disk Utility, Drive Genius, Disk Warrior, and TechTool Pro with no luck. So, hoping that the 3-year limited warranty works for me.I have another OWC hard drive that has worked fine for many years. It's not a "portable" version, so maybe that's the difference.

This is the second time I purchased one as my back-up drive. Performs as described and the rugged plastic case makes it easier to store. Highly recommend it.

Great external hard drive
