Question 1

One reviewer mentioned that the discs could only record up to 2 hours. Is this correct? I never had this problem with Verbatim before. Thanks

These are +RW discs which means that you can record on them multiple times (ex, either six 1 hour shows, or 6 hours of an individual show, then erase what you recorded and record something else on the disc.  There is a limit the number of times that you can re-reord on them, but it is a very large number -- I have never had this problem and I record, erase and re-record all the time).  You DO need to verify that your dvd recorder is compatible with these discs (some recorders and players use -R discs and these are + R discs).I record TV series on these, and for a show that has 1 hour episodes, I can get 6 episodes on a disc.  If I can buy the official series season dvds after the season is over, then once I receive the purchased dvd set, I will "re-initialize" the dvds (wipe it clean, delete its contents) that I used to record the series and start recording some other show all over again.  If I am recording a movie that is under 2 hours I record it on the 2 hour option.  These options' names vary depending on your recorder.  I can record these time-frame settings:  1/2 hour, 1 hour, 2 hour, 4 hour and 6 hours (I have found that sometimes the programs that are recorded using my 1/2 hour settings are too compressed to view properly on some dvd players -- a dvd player function problem, not the discs though).  I use these (and only these) dvds all the time and out of the several hundred of these discs that I have already used, I have only had 1 or 2 discs that were bad -- a great quality disc in my opinion.  I tried all of the other brands before I found these, and with all of the other brands, it was always hit-or-miss as to whether what I recorded could even be viewed on the recorder that I used to record the disc.  I will only buy these Verbatim discs (number 94834).  As long as these discs are available, I will continue to record on them -- and will be very happy.  If they are ever not available I will have to start my search again to find a good quality RW disc.Good Luck.  I suggest you either read your dvr manual or google your make and model dvr to make sure you understand exactly how its different recording modes settings work -- this will help you get very good, almost professional quality recordings using these discs.

Will these play on all DVD players?

Rewritable discs may be incompatible with older players due to their optical characteristics.  For best video player compatibility you want DVD+R (not -R, -RW, or even +RW).

why is the cost for 10 discs so high ? you can by 30 discs for $ 1.00 more from Amazon. thank you

But, u can not delete the commercials from tv programs, and DVR devices from cable and satallite receivers have some kind of copy right block that doesn't allow you to transfer to physical disc.

Will this disc be good to store embroidery designs on for backup?

I'm not sure what an embroidery design really is, but if it is a digital photo, like a .jpg, or a digital file, like a .doc or .txt, you can store quite a large amount of data on one of these discs  (up to 4.7 gigabytes)  Because the discs are RW (which cost a little more) you can erase or update any files many times as needed.  With less expensive DVD-R discs, you can store the same quantity, but once, permanently.  Hope this helps.
