A nice, readable, rugged watch - accurate for its price
Even though I work in tech, I still like an old-fashioned mechanical watch. I think this watch is attractive in its simplicity - it is easily readable and it is not busy - it is not "too much" to look at. It is not too large in circumference. It is a little thicker than I prefer but still not too bad. This watch has more of an old-fashioned, rounded look to it that I like. Maybe it is how the lugs are configured? This watch is more accurate than some mechanical watches I have that I paid twice as much for. I found with my particular watch that it runs a few seconds a day slow when I wear it but it runs a few seconds fast if I leave it face-down overnight - it seems to balance out so overall I can go a surprising number of days - I think a week or more - before I feel like I want to reset it. And it has a "hacking" feature so it is easy to set to the second. The watch seems rugged. I have gotten conflicting info on whether the crystal is sapphire or glass so I don't know. I have worn it daily and I have not noticed any scratches. But my normal adventures are trips to the office or the grocery store and not, say, rock climbing. The lumen is adequate but not spectacular. This is one of the best options you will find if you are looking for a simple, inexpensive but well-made mechanical field watch.

Nice watch
Great looking watch! My son loved it and wears it everyday. It is both rugged and stylish. It is a great watch that can be dressed up or used every day. Not too flashy or bulky.

Worth the money!
I was in the market for an automatic watch and decided to get this one. I'm very impressed. The strap didn't fit my small wrist so I swapped that out and everything else is good so far. Very accurate, it hacks as the name implies. I love that it has hand winding in addition to the automatic movement. Great combo. I typically like the backs on automatic watches to where you can see the internals, but in this case I actually like the design of the back. I like the theme of this watch in general. I don't mind the 30m of water resistance but I'll probably end up getting a Bulova Mil-ship one of these days.Comparing it to my Seiko5 SNK809, I think the Bulova is the clear winner and worth the money. The Bulova may not have a day/date display like the Seiko5, but the Bulova hacks and hand winds, the Seiko does not. That's not a big deal to me as I can easily throw a couple pocket calendars with my prep stuff.Speaking of prepping, this is a great prepper's watch. Mechanical automatic movement means no worries about not being able to keep track of time in an EMP scenario. The only concern in that scenario would be forgetting to wind it and losing track of time. Just make sure to have a G-shock in a faraday cage bag along with other survival electronics like a solar USB rechargeable hub/power station, USB rechargeable batteries, electric lighters, radio, etc. so you can reference the G-shock watch when setting the time.

Great Field Watch
Great Field - Hack Watch. About 4 seconds fast a day in the first week. Really nice looking and well built watch. I have a 42mm Automatic Hamilton khaki field and this 38mm Bulova Hack watch compares nicely to it for half the price. Definitely a little smaller and chunkier than the Hamilton but the Bulova doesn’t have a date window which is kinda nice. Another plus is I have a 7.5” wrist and the band that came with the Bulova Hack fit with plenty of holes to spare. So if you have a larger wrist fitment shouldn’t be a problem with the supplied watch strap. Nice glow from the luminous on the watch dial too. Great watch and I highly recommend.

Really nice piece for the price - only one minor gripe
Keeps good time, looks extremely handsome and I really like the heritage of the watch (Bulova made a bunch of stuff in WW2).My only complaint is the bracelet - it's HUGE. The quality of it is adequate, but the smallest band is still too big for my small-but-not-mini wrist size so I'm gonna have to swap it out for something else. Given the case size, you'd expect the bracelet to be a better fit on smaller wrists, but alas.Minor gripe though as I say - wouldn't hesitate to buy it!

Worth the money
This is a well made watch that looks good and keeps good time. It does gain about 10 seconds a day but that's common for mechanical watches. Even Rolex watches gain about 5 minutes a month. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is the watch is heavier than what I'm used to. Not the fault of the watch. Mechanical watches are heavier than battery operated watches. It'll take a while to get used to extra weight. All in all, a fine time piece that keeps very good time and is high quality. If you want a quality watch that has 21 jewel movement and don't want to spend hundreds of dollars more for a Swiss made watch, I highly recommend this one.

Nice Watch.
Fantastic. After about a week of wear, it's consistently running about 0.25 seconds per hour fast. Or about three minutes a month. I hack it every morning to NIST, but it's nice to know the movement is so well regulated. I plan to have it a long, long time.

Amazing field watch from Bulova!
The watch looks absolutely stunning. I love the design. Veteran Watchmaking Initiative version comes with nice engraving on the case back and military nylon strap that feels great. Because of black dial the timepiece is a strap-monster and will work great on almost any leather or NATO straps.Unfortunately, the watch does not have screwdown crown which is probably the reason for only 30m of water resistance (30m for a field watch is kind of disappointing, it should be 50m, 100m would be awesome). Also, it is a tiny little bit too thick. Partly because of the automatic movement inside, party because of highly domed cristal which could be thinner.Nevertheless, it is my favourite watch at the moment. Definitely worth the money!
