Expensive and Worth It
Marantz discovered musical magic with their cd players from the very beginning. Their early models allowed harsh cd's to sound more like phonograph records. I replaced a 24-year-old Marantz changer that I have loved, but it does not begin to compare with this single disc player. I was astounded at the level of detail that I had been missing in my cd collection. The instruments and vocals came alive with correct timbre and balance; sounding much closer, I am guessing, to what the recording engineers intended. Piano music sounded as if the pianist was playing in my listening room. Hi-fi for us poor folk is all about upgrading one component at a time, and reveling in the stark improvement it makes for years until you can afford another upgrade. Replaying every cd you own to appreciate the music anew is a joyful experience. I can't really speak to the 6007's value for the money, since I have not compared it to other brands. I do not use all of its features; I just play compact discs, so it is quite expensive for doing only that, but my ears tell me it is worth it.

impressive upgrade
Major upgrade in quality of audio not to mention the super quiet operation of this unit is impressive to say the least. I would highly recommend this product to anyone wanting to hear incredibly clean audio.

Good unit, but doesn't support NTFS formatted flash drives.
Sounds good. I bought this model because it supported play from a usb drive. I was surprised to find that it does not support NTFS formatted drives.

Unacceptable quality control
I’ve owned lots of hi-if and NEVER had a product DOA upon opening for the first time. Well, i ignored the numerous reviews of their Marantz Cd6007 being dead on arrival. Well, i learned my lesson. This thing wouldn’t read a disc. $800 dollar CD player couldn’t read a disc. Unacceptable and the quality control is unacceptable. I won’t be giving another unit a chance. I’ll be buying a different brand. Buyer beware.

Great high-end unit w/ filter selection that provides that little extra fine tuning capability
I have been building (and rebuilding) my audio room for a few months, focusing on vinyl and analog hi-end components. I wasn't intending to add a CD player to the component list, but while I had sworn off CD's a couple decades ago, and the resurgence of LP's allowed me to delay the inevitable, the cost and availability of vinyl caused me to rethink including a CD unit. The Marantz CD6007 filled the bill very well with quality construction, including a disc transport that doesn't make you feel like the drawer may cease to open at any given moment. The DAC is audiophile grade and when pushed through my preamp it diminishes that sharp digital characteristic - providing access to album / content via CD's that are either out-of-press availability coupled with a true high-end product from Marantz has me feeling very good about adding CD's back into my audio library. For a sub $1k unit, you can't go wrong with this unit.

Disappointed
The good on the Marantz 6007 was the great sound it produced. The bad was every cd played skipped at some point. Some skipped several times. For the cost of this player I was surprised. This was supposed to be a high end product. I was very disappointed. So I am returning it. Expected more from Marantz.

So far, so good.
I’ve become a little jaded recently with electronic purchases. I read recently that one Chinese company makes the same cassette mechanism—whether it’s for a $10 or $300 unit. It’s the same one.Trying to find a decent CD player is much the same. In a world of streaming and mp3s, was there any room for my collection of cds?Enter this Marantz unit. When I was a kid, the amplifiers were it, and still sell for hundreds, if not more. Could this made in China unit come close? My previous NEC and TEACS were made in Japan….Aside from the remote control, which assumes you’re willing to take out a second mortgage to purchase everything Marantz, it has so far delivered spectacular sound. It’s a little silly to pay more for a single cd unit than a carousel, but it still delivers. And the remote? No, I have no plans to spend another 10k on Marantz to justify all the buttons.
