Bottom Line: The Vacuum Sander Worked Very Well for My Newly Plastered Ceiling Project!
The vacuum sander worked very well on my newly plastered kitchen ceiling, leaving no dust at all. I frankly couldn't have asked for more. At the low price, the sander is a great tool for a homeowner, doing modest projects. There is nothing fancy about the sanding unit, but it does the job well.I had plastered the ceiling of our kitchen and needed to lightly sand the high spots. The sander hose easily connected to the hose of my shop vacuum, giving me about ten to twelve feet of hose length to work with on a low ladder. I used my own sanding screen, which went on easily. While not a fancy piece of equipment, the sanding unit worked well for my modest project. If one was doing a really large job, upgrading to a more professional sander would be good option. But for the price, this little unit worked well for me.The sanding unit has a setting to adjust the suction power, which I couldn't quite figure out. I might have to break the "male rules" and read the instruction sheet next time. I wish the unit was made in the USA.

One of my top must have renovation tools!!!
This is amazing. Our house had popcorn ceilings and orange peel texture as thick as a barn is wide. I hated it. I did a skim coat on our living room, dining room and kitchen walls and removed popcorn ceiling and patched without this because money was tight and what is a little clean up?I can tell you, I was sorely mistake. There was no "a little clean up," there was a clean out a blizzard level layer of this all over everything, in every room, covered, boxed up or not without this. The fine dust infiltrated every where. My first skim coat job sucked bc I had poor lighting and no clue what I was doing. It made my OCD self cringe every time I saw my bad sanding job that left marks or divets I missed. And there were a lot. Fast forward 2 years and dreading the idea of so much dust and cleaning and I caved and bought this as I started on my hall and bathroom. It makes it so much easier, because it is SO MUCH CLEANER, that as I have left over mud I am touching up the walls in the other rooms as I go. No need to move furniture out. No need to evacuate hubby or son with allergies and asthma. No need to go crazy. There is VERY minimal dust and it even cuts down on how much wiping off the walls needed before priming. If this item inspires my OCD but drywall and painting hating self to redo walls I just did (albeit terribly) two years ago, to prime and paint again to perfection this time it is worth every cent. I will never so much as patch a wall without this again! My only complaint is that I have no idea how the vent things function or what way they are supposed to twist. There really aren't any decent instructions for it either, but guess what? I DON'T CARE BC THIS IS STILL FANTASTIC AND SAVES YOUR SANITY!As a side note - I have Fibromyalgia. I hurt a lot and I tire easy. Renovating is so daunting for me because there is so much clean up involved. I feel like you have to work in large sections and go at it like marathon unless you want to clean it a million times and double your work. With this, I can work for 5 or 10 minutes even and take a break. The only clean up is rolling away my vac. It is a game changer.

It ACTUALLY works like a charm!
I’m shocked this works—it really, really works. Not a spot of dust on my floor (see pics!!) after sanding a rather thick application of mud. I’m a habitual DIYer but like so many, I’ve still not mastered the fine art of drywall mudding and taping.I was really skeptical. In fact, I already own another Hyde product that is much higher quality and works ok. This thing is as cheap as it gets, the hose has the quality of a disposable straw. And it’s short. I connected it to my other longer, better Hyde hose for added length and had to tape the input into my trusty old shop vac but wow, it caught nearly 100% of the dust and I had to really sand. I always mud way too thick. Nothing. No dust rimming my floor. Nothing coating my eye rows or hands or leaving a fine layer on my furniture. WOW.I have an extension hose on order. It’s totally worth it to buy an extra long hose and to resort to taping the inlet attachment on to my shop vac. (I also use a bag in my shop vac to save the motor from drywall dust). It’s all worth every. single. penny. I don’t have drywall dust wafting through my house, settling on my furniture and being sucked into my HVAC. That’s AMAZING.

Cuts dust to almost nothing when attached to a good shop vac
Works great and easy to use. Be sure you buy the correct size replacement sanding sponges. Angled sponge replacements this size was not available in any local store, but the 8 inch long one (correct width) was and I just cut it the same length as the ones that came with it. Used a sharp knife and got two out of the long length. They work great.

Not great, but usable.
I really wanted to like this. I avoided buying a 9 pound, head heavy, motorized option and went for light and speedy. Unfortunately, this didn't work that well. It works best pulling directly in the long direction. Any circular motion was difficult. Sanding tended to leave trenches from the edges cutting deeper than the main body. Maybe that's just a technique issue, but I tried several passes and just couldn't get it to be smoother. Maybe I was just being too agressive. Try a lighter touch.. but then it will take a long long time to finish. I finally took sandpaper to the head and sanded down the long edges a bit. That seemed to help some. Its not my favorite option. Ended up just holding a vaccuum hose under my hand sander for most of the job. But, true to its promise this device did reduce dust by about 90%. I may have to try the heavy motorized option next.

Actually Works
I've done my fair share of drywall mud sanding in my life, and I absolutely hate it. One of the things I hate most about it is the dust. It gets EVERYWHERE. I bought this based on a recommendation and didn't expect much from it.Wow. Was I ever wrong. This thing is amazing. It is so effective at capturing dust that you might almost wonder if the sanding sheet is even working properly. Until you open your shop-vac and realize how much dust it captured that would have otherwise been all over your work area. The claims of 90-95% are accurate and may even be a little conservative. Even though I would never recommend drywall sanding without a mask, this tool will almost make you think you could get away without one. (I still wear a mask though cause any amount of drywall mud dust is nasty). My only complaint is that it was hard to get used to sanding with a hose attached. I eventually did get used to it, but it will never feel as easy as a normal sanding pad. Dealing with the hose is a MUCH smaller hassle than dealing with the dust, so its a good trade off as far as I'm concerned.

Impressive
I have been in the renovation business since 1983. I was sceptical after reading some reviews. However for the $ I decided to give it a try. We were living in the house & adding a 12’x24’room so dust was a concern as I always put plastic up to try & dust but it seems to find its way. I decide not to put up the plastic as an archway had to be incorporated. It took an awhile to get used to the vacuum hose attached. Once I got used to that it was amazing. I would say 98-99% dust free. Another step nobody mentioned is that prior to painting you do not need to dust the ceiling & walls down. As long as you use sanding screens & not sandpaper this should work great. Cheers

Vacuum Drywall Sanding Pole
I have sanded drywall many many times over the last 40 years and I always walk away totally covered in drywall dust. I just renovated my basement and thought why not try this vacuum dust collecting pole — well let me tell you — it works — it really works well — I did t even wear a dust mask and I sanded the ceilings directly over my head and I was fine - maybe not 100 percent of the dust my very close :-)The other part was very little clean up after / thankfully and the drywall dust that is normally left behind on the walls is a pain when you out in the first coat of paint primer. If you don’t vacuum it off — it mixes in the primer snd then you really should like sand the primer / another mess to vacuum up — I went immediately to paint and did not have to vacuum or sand the primed wall :-)Very pleased with the vacuum pole sander and if you add a dust collecting Cyclone between it and your vacuum - your vacuum and vacuum filter hardly needs cleaning either.Good luck ALLBradPs I also bought the hand held vacuum sander for the corners and touch ups 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
