Works well on older LiftMaster
My 25 year old LiftMaster receiver was wearing out. This works fine. Easy to install. You don't even need to worry about polarity when you make the electrical connections between the receiver and the garage door opener. You will need to have or buy a 315mhz remote to connect with this receiver. The receiver is advertized as "universal" - works with any garage door opener. I think that's right. This is a way better way to go than replacing the entire opener if the motor in your garage door opener is still working.

Great Support
The seller worked with me via email to get this product working with my older keypad and push button remotes. It would have been easy for them to tell me it does not work with my setup and sell me more things but they stuck with me and the product works great and I am happy.

Works well enough that we don't need to buy a whole new garage door opener.
The remote receiver on our garage door stopped working. All remotes stopped working and none would pair with it again. Went through the troubleshooting steps to the point where it said we need a new board in the opener. I had the thought that there may be some kind of external receiver and low-and-behold, found this on Amazon. Installation was pretty easy, plug in the unit, wire it to the opener, and program it. I am not very handy but was able to get it done in about an hour, which includes searhcing for the wire skinners, an extra 10 minutes to figure out how to open it before I looked at the directions, etc. All in all, easy to install. Both of my current remotes programmed easily, though I needed a second person to help program the keypad since successfully programming it does not cause the lights on the opener to flash, but instead turns off the little LED on the unit, which was across the garage from me. I took off one star because the reception, as others notes, is pretty bad. I initially had it plugged into a receptacle about 15ft back into the garage and I could barely get it to open and close from the driveway. I moved it to one closer to the door, if in a less convenient location, and it workeed pretty reliably from there. One good note is that you do not have to reprogram it if the unit is unplugged or power goes out. I have not tried to program the myQ hub to it yet, but I've heard they are not compatible. We shall see. I'll update this review if I have any luck. UPDATE: This product DOES work with MyQ. I chose Liftmaster as the brand and Purple as the learn button color and it paired in just a few minutes.

Great product easy to setup and use
This product is exceptional. Following a malfunction of our garage door opener, necessitating manual operation via the interior button due to remote control failure, I successfully installed this unit, utilizing the provided components and existing wiring. Subsequent programming of the remotes resulted in flawless operation.

Weak Remote Signal
This receiver seemed like a cost-effective solution when the receiver on my Craftsman garage door opener failed. It was easy enough to install once I realized that I didn't have to replace my on-the-wall control button with this receiver. I would have had to run a new electrical circuit as I had no existing outlet in that vicinity. Fortunately, I found I could plug this receiver into the same outlet as the plug from my garage door opener, and the on-the-wall control button still worked. Sweet! After going through the programming effort, I learned what many customers have reported -- its ability to receive a signal from existing remotes is lacking. It's just not consistent and typically requires multiple tries (5-10) for a closed garage door to open when sitting in a vehicle outside, but right in front of the door. I added a 2' extension to the antenna wire, but that doesn't seem to have had much effect. I'll try what another reviewer did -- attaching the antenna to the door track -- to see if that improves the reception. One other nuisance I encountered is how this receiver interacts with a keypad remote located on the outside of my garage. I have two garage openers, each with its own code that I control with this keypad. Before I installed this new receiver, I could press the "Enter" button to close both open doors simultaneously. Now, I have to enter the code for this receiver in order to close it. Then, after I wait for it to fully close, I can press the "Enter" button to close the other door. Not what I expected, and an added irritation.

Avoid this product.
Not a great product. High hopes but can’t get any of my remotes to sync up. Seems simple but just doesn’t work. Definitely, not worth the cost.

Works with MyQ garage opener.
Used this to finally connect MyQ to my Genie garage door opener. Didn’t have luck pairing the MyQ to my Genie garage door opener. Easy to pair using the Lift-master head option along with the “Purple” pairing sequence. Need to make sure all the sensors and wiring are set up for the MyQ because when the pairing sequence begins the garage door will move to complete the pairing sequence. I made the mistake by trying to pair the MyQ to universal unit without connecting anything. It will make an attempt to pair but won’t because it will go through a sequence before pairing.. Everything needs to be installed correctly per MyQ instructions. Other than that you should have no issues pairing your system to your MyQ to you Lift-master universal unit.

The unit I got was defective, but it's not the only reason for my bad review
I bought this so I could link to My-Q door opener system. I have an older Liftmaster/Precision PDS-4700 system that is not compatible with newer remotes. I thought buying a Liftmaster branded product with reduce the chances of having issues. I have several issues with this: It took me a while to troubleshoot that this unit is defective unit. Sometimes the door would open, and sometimes it would not (the light would turn on, but the door would not open). Twice, the door opened on it's own due to this unit, 2) the instructions for this device say that you should attach the 2 wires to terminals 1 and 2 on the main garage door unit. I tried this and it didn't work. I saw that the wall switch was connected to terminals 3 and 4 so those are the correct terminals to make this work, 3) the design of this unit is really annoying. You have to remove the front cover to push the "Teach/Learn" button. But, the front cover is difficult to remove & the front cover also acts as a door opener button so you end up triggering the door when you take the cover on/off - very frustrating. I ended up drilling a hole in the front cover so I could access the "Teach/Learn" button without taking the cover off (hence, I can't get a refund). At this point, I either have to order another one of these or try to find a 3rd party wireless transmitter that works with my garage door opener. At some point you have to wonder if it's better to just buy a new & more modern garage door opener rather than trying to retrofit the old one
