Benjamin Pump is PERFECT for Benjamin Airbow!
Bought the Benjamin pump to match a Benjamin Airbow and everything worked out perfect! Forget all the nonsense reviews you've read, here IS the real truth behind the Benjamin pump! First, it NEVER got hot while pumping my Airbow up from 1,000 psi to 3,000 psi. Even after 25 pumps the entire unit was cool to the touch, so to get this thing "hot" is gonna take someone just "a pumpin' and a sweatin'" nonstop! Another fact worth mentioning for those who don't already own PCP guns....it's the FIRST thousand psi that wears you out! My Benjamin Airbow came with 1,000 psi on the gauge. With the pump connected, the FIRST 1,000 psi is simply pressurizing the line between the pump and the Airbow! That took about 100+ strokes! You see, until you have created enough "line pressure" to overcome the internal valving, your strokes don't mean diddly squat toward increasing the gun's reservoir pressure! As most can figure out, once volume is satisfied, pressure comes up pretty quickly...and this is true of the Benjamin pump. Once line pressure was equal to gun reservoir pressure, "psi" started to come up pretty quick. From 2,000 psi to 3,000 psi wasn't about number of strokes, but about getting the pump all the way down to inject the next slug of air! By 3,000 psi it is extremely difficult to get the pump all the way down unless one is a large person with good body mechanics....so there is that. At the same time, when shooting, if the gun reservoir is recharged around the 2K psi mark, it won't take long at all to be back to 3,000 psi! The Benjamin pump is clearly well made and made to hold up to a lot of use. And, point of fact, pumping up the Airbow was excellent exercise! I highly recommend this pump for those looking, but not expertly familiar with all the pumps on the market!

Replaced a Chinese pump with this.
I ordered a Chinese made hand pump trying to save a few bucks. Let me tell you, it wasn't worth the hassle. The Chinese product from Mrodair may have come with two rebuild kits (consisting of O-ring sets) and a bottle of lube (that was punctured and leaked all over the entire shipment), but it didn't come with instructions and didn't work right out of the box. I'm in the process of trying to return it but the company doesn't even return emails. I bought this Benjamin pump as a replacement and was pleasantly surprised by the fact that it not only came with instructions, but that the only assembly required was 4 screws (two for the floor plate, two for the handle) and only a Philips head screwdriver was needed. It went together in under a minute and was connected to my Benjamin Marauder right after. It worked perfectly, felt sturdy and well built, and was comfortable to use. Don't get me wrong, it takes some effort once you get the psi up there, but it's a great alternative to a scuba tank if you don't want that added expense or for fill ups in the field. My only gripe would be that I wish the filling hose was longer and more flexible to make it more user friendly and easier to pack into a backpack for field use without worrying that you are putting a kink into it. Shipping on this was crazy fast! I ordered it late on a Friday evening and it was on my front step when I got home from work Monday night. It was packaged well and arrived without issue. All in all, I would recommend this pump. I tried to go a cheaper route and ended up regretting it. As the saying goes, buy quality the first time and only cry once.

Its price reflects its performance
This is a good hand pump, I've a lot of them and this one does almost as good as my Hill mk4. Rebuild seal kits are easy to find and affordable. I do recommend getting the dessicant kit to go with it, i won't mess with pumps that don't have that. My only con is why they give you such a dinky 12" hose it makes connecting to a tube/tank thats not removable a bit tricky.

Benjamin HP Pump ~ Great Back up source if used correctly for a PCP Air Rifle ~ Not a great primary source
Great backup in a pinch ! Not great for the only air source for a PCP Air Rifle but it works great when my SCBA 4500 psi Air pack drops below 3000 psi. I'm in my fifties and I have used it from zero psi to 3000 and it will take some time with a few breaks in between to reach a full fill in my Benjamin Marauder. When my primary source runs low it will top it off without too much trouble in a pinch. I have read reviews where people had trouble with o ring failure bit I think it because of user error not the fault of the pump. If you use it like a bike pump and just pump fast up and down it will overheat and fry the o rings. It clearly states in the basic manual that you need to pause for a second at the peak of the up stroke and at the bottom of the stroke. This gives the pump a more efficient stroke and the o rigs will last a long time. Each stroke up and down actually fill the chamber. You Tube has some good videos on the proper technique but if they are not pausing at the top and bottom of each stroke it is NOT correct. One thing I recommend, if you can't afford a scuba tank rated for 3000psi or an SCBA 4500psi (Scott air pack) and a HP pump is the only air source you can afford, you will spend allot more time hand pumping than shooting. The SCBA is the best choice but fill sources are harder to find than for scuba tanks. The scuba tank will obviously drop below the 2700 psi point much sooner but never over fill your 3000 psi max gun. The 4500psi air pack should be regulated to not exceed 3000psi to avoid dangerously over filling. I paid $120 for a used SCBA in great condition, $350 on eBay for a 6000psi regulator and another $65 for high pressure air paintball fill station rated for 5000psi, quite the investment !

HIGH PRESSURE PUMP WORKS GOOD
hi purchased this pump instead of an electric compressor to pump up my PCP and paintball high pressure air tanks. i'll tell you i'm a little disappointed. i waited over 3 weeks to receive this and when i did it was broken. the gauge was smashed. well i just bought a new paintball gun and i had to test it regardless. i used this to pump up my 68 cubic inch tank rated at 4500 psi to 300 psi. it took me over an hour to do so, in between waiting for the pump shaft to cool down and wearing myself out!!!im a small guy, 150 pounds and it worked ok... the other reviews are correct... the toughest part is getting past the first 1500 pounds of pressure.... it took me 1000 down strokes to get my 68 cui tank up to 3000 psi....it was over an hour to do it... i still think a scuba tank and hpa adpater is a better way to go than this pump. i got a good work-out doing the 1000 strokes, but, i'm a lazy old man... i'm going toi look into a REAL compressor instead. but this pump works like it should and does what it says it does.. it's just a work-out doing it... good luck

Works like a top
Works like a top. As posted in other blogs, it does take some work to fill the rifle reservoir to full capacity, but not nearly as bad as some have posted. At my weight of 180 lbs, I found it quite manageable to pump my Marauder up o 3000 psi without breaking my back or fainting from exhaustion. My technique is to pump about 25-30 pumps, take a short break (3-5 minutes) then pump another 25-30 until full. I try not to let my reservoir get below 12-1500 psi making refills that much easier. I'm sure dive tanks are nice and easy, but this hand pump has proven to be very convienient. Requires very little space in the garage and no worries about locating and getting refills from dive shops. Also easily transportable outdoors. If your rifle requires quick refills from high volume shooting, then a dive tank or something similar is the way to go. But if your shooting sessions are low key and slow paced like mine, then this pump is the way to go.

Works well for paintball HPA tanks, too
I mainly bought this pump to use to pump up my paintball HPA tank, and secondary use will be when I buy a Crosman PCP air gun later. Be prepared for a workout! I'm a larger man, and in fairly good shape, but you will pump your arms off filling up a tank. You won't be able to fill up in between paintball game on same day, but if you're wanting to fill up over night (or over the course of a few nights for the next weekend, then you will be able to fill up (to 3600psi max) your tank ready to go, or if you want to practice at home then you don't have to keep going back and forth for fills. (My local paintball field lets you do all-day fills for $13, so I'd just do that for the day of playing, but I don't like to have to drive back and forth to the paintball store for fills in the middle of the week). So to summarize: it's awesome and does what it needs to do. But keep in mind you will get a heck of a work-out. :) If you're buying this for your Crosman PCP gun, then it will do what you need to do perfectly. My review is as it is because I'm filling an 88 cubic inch tank to 3500psi, and not the smaller reservoir in a gun ;)
