A New Beginning For ECW

It should be noted that I don't have the actual RF Video release of this event as I watched either the original PPV broadcast or the Pioneer Home Video release of this event so I have no clue to any edits (music/entrances/interviews/ect.) that may or may not be on this release. This PPV marked a new beginning for ECW based off the fact that they debuted on TNN less than a month earlier, their top tag team in the Dudley Boyz had left for WWE while the news also leaked that another top star was leaving, Raven returned to the company after walking out of WCW, Joey Styles having Cyrus as his full time PPV broadcast partner, and this being the first PPV being available internationally in Canada. The big controversy coming into this PPV revolved around the ECW Champion Taz as it was no secret that he was leaving for WWE going into this title match against Masato Tanaka but the surprise here was the appearance of Mike Awesome turning into this match into a 3 way dance but the huge shocker was how this match turned out in the opening 5 minutes to the point where the locker room emptied to see what happened. Sabu returned to action after being medically suspended for months to get revenge on Justin Credible in a match that saw Justin do whatever he could to get out of the match in the beginning resulting in an innocent bystander paying the price in a war that saw tables & chairs & canes to the point where even the managers for in a fight. Other matches include Tommy Dreamer & Raven defending the Tag Team Titles against Steve Corino & Rhino, Television Champion Rob Van Dam vs. Balls Mahoney, Super Crazy vs. Yoshihiro Tajiri vs. Little Guido, Jerry Lynn vs. Lance Storm, and what started as an open challenge from Simon Diamond ending in "anarchy".As I said this PPV marked a new beginning as you began to see new faces coming into the company while older names started to make returns while various talents started to be elevated to new positions on the card as evident by Rob Van Dam's Television Championship Match ending the show instead of the ECW Championship. The card itself though was a mixed bag as this PPV was titled correctly with "anarchy" causing a bunch of things advertised for the show to completely change which was either for the better or worse depending on how you want to look at it but a majority of the show was quality so this is still worth checking out.
