The Most Relaxing Classical Album in the World...Ever!

This classical music set seems great and very relaxing....however, I bought it used and I only received one of the actual discs and one random discs.

This was a CD purchased for my husband, so this review reflects his opinions on it. This is something he originally purchased for his mom many years ago, and he ended up borrowing it from her for a period of time, and deciding he really enjoyed it. He finds it very relaxing and soothing to listen to, and finally decided he wanted a copy of his own. He says he doesn't really feel qualified to judge the technical merits of the versions on these discs, but he says they sound great to him. Both discs play well, the product arrived quickly and undamaged. I did listen to part of it and didn't find anything to complain about, though for me it's not especially relaxing. If I want to relax, I like Loreena McKennitt, or Deuter, or Dean Evenson...that sort of thing. So I can't guarantee relaxation, I think that's a matter of personal preference and what how you react to different sounds. But I may just borrow it from time to time to work with our son on his sensory integration goals, because he does tend to find some of these songs more soothing as well.

Choice of the music and quality of the recording was very good.

This is a must buy for anyone who enjoys classical music while they are busy working, relaxing, knitting, reading a book or just want to sit down and listen to beautiful music. This is my second cd because I lost the first one during one of my moves. I play this cd daily.* In the morning when I'm getting ready for the day* In the evening when I crawl into bed and want to listen to beautiful relaxing music* In the middle of the night when I can't sleep I turn to this cd to help me go back to sleep.* When I'm reading a book and want relaxing music in the background* When I'm sewing or knitting I always play this CD.* When I am cleaning my house I turn this on full blast.I have purchased other classical CD's but this is my favorite.

This 2 disc compilation CD promises what it delivers. I once heard people in a church play Bach's Air on the G-string live. Leo Delibes' Flower Duet-Lakme is on the CD. There's a Simpsons episode where you can hear Delibes-style music when Homer Simpson wins a boxing match. Delibes' Flower Duet is from an opera about a Brahmin priest's daughter and her servant. It's sung by a soprano and mezzo soprano. It's flavored with the atmosphere of British India...or something like that. This is a great CD, but it might be too high brow for some people.

Not as labeled by the producer. I am a SUCKER because I bought this CD set as described by the producer. I paid $12.47 to learn a valuable lesson. I will never buy another product again without reading the AMAZON reviews. I do not know what I was thinking taking a title at face value. I will blame it on lack of sleep. I use RELAXING classical music to get to sleep. These CDs contain such music but it is interlaced with VOCALS. The human voice can be stimulating and in some operas and chorals it is. Disc one gets you almost asleep with two relaxing instrumental tracks and then WHAP vocal. And disc two begins with the Bach vocal "SLEEPERS, WAKE!". I screwed up royally. If I had just read the reviews. David Raasch: "...vocals"; Nancy Sanka: "If it wasn't for the opera."; Serratia Jones: "Apart from the vocals."; James Stewart: "...offset by disturbing operatic voices." It is a good CD of great music but the vocals are stimulating NOT relaxing. I DO NOT recommend this set of CDs for anyone to use when trying to get to sleep. This is not unique. It seems that many "relaxing" CD collections are made by sadists who have two or three bands of soft music and then insert a hoedown or a march. It is all very frustrating for the sleep deprived. I noticed of the eighty plus reviewers there were only three verified purchasers and some reviews read like they were using the sample clips to make the review which is like reading the first two sentences of each chapter of a novel and then making a review. Many five star reviews seem written from the same script and some persons made multiple five star reviews separated by time. None verified purchasers. This CD set appears to have been hyped by the MADE FOR TV crew. So sad. But they got me! I played percussion in a symphony orchestra and concert band and snare drum and then cymbals in a military marching band. I truly appreciate good classical and march music.

These two CD's are the best versions of relaxing classical music I've ever heard. Not only are the compositions masterfully performed--absolutely exquisite--but I think someone made a scientific selection of music that is guaranteed to put you to sleep. Furthermore, while everyone tries to play Pachelbel's Canon, no one does it better than it is done here. That's why, after one of the discs from my 1997 set broke, I couldn't wait to buy another. The 1999 set retains the cuts I love most--the Canon and Delibes' Flower Duet, cuts 3 and 7 on disc one. The only bad thing I can say about the new set is that for some knucklehead reason, the producers replaced a perfectly relaxing tune on disc 2, Delibes' Prayer, with Vivaldi's jolting and plucky Concerto for Two Mandolins, which absolutely does not belong in a sea of relaxation. Other than that, if I had the money, I'd buy a set for everyone I love who savors quality and rest.

This CD does meet the expectation that the title would suggest. I have a number of these relaxing style Albums, I rotate in the car as they don't take any significant concentration away from navigating the road and this one is very pleasant with all the classical 'big hitters' present. My only reservation, actually observation, is that to fit the large number of tracks on a CD, some of them have had to be shortened. Given the length of some of the pieces, this is understandable and the CD still represents very good value for money. The only other thing worth pointing out is in my car at least I think the output volume is a little quiet but this only becomes apparent when for example, you switch back to the radio for the news and the volume is higher.All in all, if you like classical music and want a 'hits' type album or if you just want a 'sampler' to see what all the fuss is about, I would recommend this CD set.

This is a mixed album of classical music and most of these pieces will be very familiar to most people as its all the very big composers, Mozart, Chopin, Bach etc. It is a very chilling album for unwinding or having a bath or when you want to slow down. None of the pieces included are jarring on the ears and they blend and are mixed very well. It was a steal for the price too as its a double album. Its also great for those times when you want background music rather than silence because you need to concentrate but not really listen. It is so soothing and I really love it. There is also a 2nd album in the series and that's ace as well.

I am fortunate that over the years I have been able to build up a quite a good collection of music CDs. I tend to play music to suit what I am doing at the time. For example, doing household chores (silent cough) I play very upbeat music to get me through the chores. When I am at my tapestry canvas or writing verse, I listen to very different type of music. This CD 'the most relaxing classical album in the world ... ever!' is ideal for relaxing or even meditative activities. The two disc selections are packed with so many compositions that I recognise whilst offering less known pieces. I shall buy this range again - the CD's make ideal gifts for music lovers.

Peaceful relaxing music. A great selection of music to help you unwind. Sometimes I listen to it to help me fall asleep.
