Great for quail eggs too
This candler works great. Came on time and candles my quail eggs just fine. You can see the little one inside when it's close enough to hatching. The candler on my incubator just wasn't working so i had to find something. I love that the plug in option means I don't need to go buy batteries. The two candler sizes are great. The smaller one works for quail eggs. It's an affordable light and is well made.

Great Egg Candler
I got this to candle my button quail eggs because those suckers are dark, and the light that came on my incubator wasnโt bright enough to penetrate the shell. As soon as I held this up to the first egg I immediately saw veins. The size is geared more toward chicken eggs, but if you cup your hand around the quail eggs/ end of the light, it works out great. Itโs worth it at the price, appears to be well made, and is a very light weight design.

Excellent Candler - demonstration
As I was editing this video, I realized that I sound a little too excited about it and I apologize. It's just not often that I am so pleasantly surprised to find a cheap product work so much better than I ever hoped. This whole thing is a simple concept - shine bright light into egg to see what's going on inside and inspect the elements. You see things like development, porosity of shell, cracks, detached air cells, air cell development, veins, blood rings, activity level of developing embryo, etc. . Candling provides you with a lot of data that you can use to properly analyze your hatch, make necessary adjustments to your humidity levels and get rid of dud eggs. There are many homemade options available and I've been using those methods. I had made a homemade candler, then I used various different bright flashlights. The problems I encountered was flimsiness, not permanent solutions, light leakage, clumsy, not enough light, my hand gets in the way, etc. . All small annoyances that did not prevent me from still being able to candle - but they were still annoying. So I get this candler and I am not expecting much. It's just that I have this big hatch coming up and I figured I should just try it out. I was so surprised at how much better this is! It takes away all those annoyances I've been putting up with. It's like having that little speck of a rock in your shoe. It doesn't hurt anything...and certainly doesn't prevent you from walking or even running - but it just feel soooo darn good to finally get that rock out. I am able to do a more complete and thorough analysis of each egg and I found issues with eggs that I had previously missed with my flashlight method. This just makes it so I will have a better understanding of what went wrong if I have any issues with those "bad eggs" during the hatching process. I was also able to apply wax over some tiny cracks that I found in some of the eggs - hopefully, saving them. What I like about this product: 1. Super easy to use and is absolutely bright enough. It's only 220-240 LM (vs my 1800 LM LED Headlamp), but with the rubber tip, it "seals" around the egg and totally limits light leakage. You get two rubber tips and that will cover everything from large duck eggs to tiny quail eggs (as shown in my video). It will likely work with even larger eggs, but these are the only ones I have access to at this time. The tips are the perfect shape, gives you grip on the eggs, molds, is soft and very easy to change out, even in a dark room. 2. Powered by a cable instead of batteries. Because you want the brightest light out there, people often have to change out the battery after only a few sessions. No worries about that with this one. 3. So completely affordable. 4. Because of it's slim shape and size, you can slip this into your incubator and candle your eggs from the top/side without having to take each egg out of the incubator or the egg turner. If you're just checking really quick for veining, movement, get an idea on development, air cell development, or pip into the air cell - you can see all these things using this method. By not taking each egg out, you save yourself some time and it lessens the risk of accidentally mishandling the eggs. I do wish the cord was longer when doing this though. Some people believe that a cooling period helps improve hatch rate, but some people do not, but this gives you an option that other candling methods do not. Some candlers are too bulky or do not seal well enough to pull this off so it's great that this one gives you that option. What could be improved: 1. I would like a longer cable 2. If it was possible to have a cordless, rechargeable version that does not suffer in performance - I'd be all over that. 3. Better quality would be nice. 4. Having a way to easily change out the bulb would be nice - just in case. LED's usually have a long life-span, but still. Those are the only things I can think of that would make it better. Of course, the price would go up as well then. Even if you are not interested in hatching eggs - this is very helpful in determining health of your hens and age of the egg. For example, you usually want a little older eggs for baking. An egg that's a little older is easier to peel if you hard boil them. You can also see the how evenly the calcium is being distributed on the egg. This will tell you if you need to adjust your laying hen's calcium supplementation, or her overall health. If you find a rogue egg and am not sure if it's already developing, you can check that too before cracking it open. Egg farms candle eggs to make sure you're not getting bad eggs, eggs with meat spots in them, etc. . I completely recommend this product. It works extremely well and am very happy with my purchase. Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to try and help!

Great value for the money and the light is definitely bright enough to see everything
The egg tester light really works great. It even comes with a chart that helps you identify how far along your egg is in the development process for having the baby chicks. Everything works great. Very simple to use and for the price, you cannot beat it. Itโs very lightweight plug it right into your electrical socket and youโre ready to go.

Highly Recommend! More Success than Flashlight or Phone Light
I purchased a different egg candler before this one and I am pretty sure I lost valid eggs because of it. After realizing the one I had maybe wasn't working up to my expectations, I did a little more research and found the Magicfly had much better reviews. It also works way better than a flashlight as well as my cell phone light. It does not get hot, even after candling several eggs at a time (I think I had about 20 at one time). It is bright enough to see through blue, aqua, light brown and dark brown chicken eggs (Cream Legbar, Easter Eggers, Brahma, Barnevelder eggs). It is very affordable compared to other brands of similar or lesser quality of the same size that I looked into. I just wanted a small handheld candler, and do not mind a corded one since it is not something I use every day and it will sit for awhile until I use it again. In addition, I used the smaller quail egg size attachment to candle turtle eggs and it worked very well for those too! I highly recommend this egg candler and wish I had it from the beginning.

This light penetrates dark shells
This is absolutely the best product I have ever used for my chickens. I have black copper marans. Because of the thick shell and dark color, it's difficult to find lights that will penetrate it. This is the one that will.

Decent, for a while.
It's great when it works. (THICK eggshells can be hard to see through, but I don't fault this LED candler.) I've barely used it. (You don't candle eggs for long or very often.) Last year it worked all the time. This year it frequently starts dim or doesn't even turn on. A few whacks and on/off's and it's full brightness. I don't know what its problem is. I'm glad it's still working (2nd year) but I'll be surprised if it works at all on its 3rd year. It's been stored well and been "on" for less than 20 minutes through the length of its lifespan.

It's Alright
It works alright. It isn't super bright and had trouble seeing through my olive eggs, but it works well on light coloured eggs. It comes with a power pack that you put batteries in, but as Im incubating inside, I haven't tried yet. Overall it's decent and works, I just expected it to be a lot brighter.
