It varies on the dart condition and atmospheric conditions. The usual effective range is from 20-30 feet for a level shot. It's a very good rifle, but it doesn't really shoot further than most other Nerf guns. I hope this helps.

I have fired mine several thousand times before and after modifying it. I have not experienced any jams. As long as you operate it properly, you shouldn't have problems. Dart quality is a factor, however.
