Your 12 inches from any heat with the handle length. It' s stainless steel which means it will last basically forever. One reviewer said his handle rusted, that reviewer is probably a troll, stainless does not rust. The silicone brush holds the barbecue sauce and applies it in a nice and easy stroke. You don't have any issues with adding bristles to your food. Some other reviewers complained the silicone bristles wore out much to quickly. Again, if you get to close to the heat that could happen. HQY sells a replacement 3 pack of the silicone bristles for $5.99. They pop in and out in a second. I bought the brush, and the 3 pack. For a grand total of $12.98, I have the handle and four sets of bristles. I can do multiple types of sauce or baste while I am cooking different things. Just pop the brushes in and out, and then clean them up after things are done. They clean real easy. No question, this is the best application tool that I have ever owned.

Works well for applying olive oil when making pizzas. I tore off the rings since I don't need them. They look great and feel good in the hand. While there are less "bristles" than I have ever seen on a silicone brush; it causes no detriment. I feel.i got my money's worth.

This looks like a very nice brush. Very sturdy & sleek looking with nice silicone bristles. However it’s not as long as I like for a bbq basting brush. I would recommend it if you’re ok with that.

It does the trick. Applies sauces like I would expect a brush to be able to do. The biggest complaint I have is that when I am glazing something on the BBQ, whether it be a marinade or BBQ Sauce, I have the heat high. The handle on this is not long enough and it can get uncomfortable, especially when I am basting a whole grill full of meat. The handle is not solid, its a shaped metal sheet. This makes it lighter than I expected, but there is a seam down the side. Clean up is pretty easy, but we will see how it lasts over time. I am not sure I would call the brush "Heavy Duty" as described in the title.

The silicone head comes detached a little too easily. Since the handle is also dish washer safe, I've yet to feel a need to detach it to clean. I think the ring should be attached in a fixed manner, or a hole molded into the handle: as it is, it clatters annoyingly as I brush things. The handle, despite being steel, is not uncomfortably heavy, and the length is very nice for brushing oil onto things over a ripping hot grill or skillet. I very nearly rounded this down to four stars, but considering the low price I couldn't. That said, it's like any silicone brush: it's surprising how well it picks up and holds liquids, and is very gentle and even in applying them. I would still want something stiffer for pastry work where I need to pick up un-melted butter.

Solid handle with an easy to clean removable brush.

A little lightweight and not as well made as I’d expected. Length of handle good for BBQing though so I’m keeping it.

Really cheap quality, the silicone is super loose.. better off buying one made in North America
