Good picture quality
I purchased the product to keep a watchful eye on my landlord after my rent money mysteriously grew legs.Pros: Inexpensive, Small, Good picture quality, Night Vision, Near 360 degree viewing capability (with movement), Motion Tracking*Cons: Playback could use serious improvements, No Alerts/Bookmarks if not connected to internet, Motion tracking*, Cloud service is pricey, No way to prevent theft, Internet or nothing...Playback: Can only view playback through app on phone and can only view in "real time." I do not have the time to sit and watch second for second what happened over the past 48 hours (for example) to see if something went on. I recommended a playback feature that allows you to fast-forward through video at faster rates (x2, x4, x8, x16 for example) to make it easier to view longer recordings over a short period of time without having to skip ahead in increments (example: no noted activity at time 0:00-0:05, skip ahead to 0:10 to view 0:10-0:15, skip ahead again to 0:30-0:32, etc. You miss what happened during the entire time between 0:05-0:10, 0:15-0:30, etc.)Playback: You can only view playback through the app. IF you install a memory card (Micro SD) and put the card into your computer, you may be able to view it there, but I have not tried this.Motion Tracking: This was listed as a pro and a con. It is a nice feature, especially if you are not able to jump onto the app to control the cameras direction. The con is that the feature seems to work intermittently in that it will track motion for a period, and then "snap back" to the cameras original position, potentially missing whatever else is going on (now outside of the frame). This is both a good and a bad thing... I'm not sure how else to describe it and really, the features helpfulness is dependent on what the consumer is using it for.Recording: I opted to purchase and use a Micro SD card as opposed to the cloud service. If you do not have a card or the cloud service, the camera will only record the "alerts" you have preset, which are roughly 6 seconds in length. This is of no fault to the manufacturer, just be prepared.Alerts: At first, I was having serious internet issues which hindered my interface with the camera. Internet has since improved but can still sometimes be a little shotty. The problem is that during times of disconnection, there are no "alerts." Example: If the camera is connected and someone were to walk in front of it, the software would create an "alert", recording the 6 second clip and forwarding it to the app. If the camera is NOT connected and someone were to walk in front of it, it would still record and be viewable once connection is restored, HOWEVER, there will be no "alert" created and unless you were to manually scroll back through recorded video, you would never know there was an event. This, I feel is another very compelling reason to create additional playback controls such as fast forward.Overall, I am satisfied with the product but I do wish there were additional features available to make playback more accessible. I have written a recommendation to YI via the app and have not received any feedback yet.

There are pros and cons, but we like it overall
We use this as a baby camera. Overall, we do really like it. It's great to see able to view our little one from our phones, even if we're away and she's being babysat (we can only see her room, but can see if she's asleep or not). I like that there's a 2 way talk button so she can hear us talking to her, and we can hear if she cries, and I also like that you can pan around the room so it's easy to adjust it without going in the room. It's easy to set up as well. A couple things I wish it had... I wish it would tell the temperature of the room (since we're using it for the baby's room). We did get a separate device for temperature but the battery dies about every 2 weeks, so I wish the camera just did this. Also, sometimes the camera will need to be refreshed, so when I wake up in the night to check on her, sometimes I'll look at the camera and have to hit refresh before the camera will work again, which also means the sounds isn't working when it's needing to be refreshed. It's been fine but if our daughter started crying and needed something and the camera wasn't working at the moment, we may not be able to hear her to go check on her, so I don't like that. Usually it works really well though and I do like it better than the 2 baby cameras we tried before this.

Just bought my 3rd camera. You can’t beat it!
I almost returned this camera because I could not get the camera to read the QR code during programming. As a last ditch effort, I printed the code. It scanned the paper easily and as they say, the rest is history. I LOVE this camera. I initially got it to be able to check on my tweens when they were home for a few minutes before or after school. I have great peace of mind being able to check on them from work and to speak through the intercom. I almost immediately went back online and purchased another camera and 2 mini sd cards. I put one in the basement so I could also monitor my sons screen time. Today my 3rd camera just arrived. I put my small children into a new bedroom in their brothers old bunk beds and I wanted to be able to monitor them to be sure they were safe. Today I was able to scan the QR code on my phone by turning the screen brightness up all the way. Scanning the code is the hardest part of the set up, but if you struggle, turn the lighting up on your screen or screenshot the code and print it on paper and you won’t have a issue. I don’t generally have connection problems, the pictures are crisp, night vision is great, and with the card you can rewind/record/take pictures, even if past events. You can adjust the settings to your liking (motion activation, night vision, camera orientation, room scanning, etc). You can’t get a better camera for the price and the app is very easy to use.

Good cameras but watch out the app
The cameras work well and its controlling app is simple to use. It all started well but lasted only like a couple of months when the app was upgraded and then my cellphone stopped vibrating or making sounds the app. Now I needed to open the app to see its alerts, the whole time. The customer service only works regular business hours, the same ones you may work as well. Its voice menu stops by cutting you short asking you to call only on their business hours and then "thanks", meaning "get lost, we don't wanna work". Their "agents" are not always available in these hours either. When you finally reach one all they do is exactly the same you would do, checking the app and your cellphone setting, then resetting the cameras, and asking you to wait a couple of hours to get them working, like if they were baking bread. After that long time the agents were gone and I could only call them 2 weeks later just for them to make me waste more time.I also had an earlier problem with a camera itself, being oversensitive, even though. Their customer "service" ask me a copy of one of the camera videos, and then just asked me to change the camera's position. So, they never ever showed any higher knowledge than a regular customer. I called a total of 3 times or more and at the final call the guy just kept asking if I didn't get alerts, which I told him several times, I got upset and he just got rid of me by hanging up. Then the company refused to answer my calls.Their products turned useless. However, the app started sending alarms again a few weeks later and I could rely on the cameras again. I'll come back and edit this review if they fail again... and if Amazon allows me to.

Good deal for the price
I bought this on a lark, not expecting much quality at this price. To my pleasant surprise, I got a lot more than I expected. It took a few tries for me to get the camera onto my wifi network, but once I did that, smooth sailing. The camera does a pretty good job of tracking a moving object. I initially set it at the highest sensitivity, and was constantly getting notices when my dogs walked into the living room. One of them is a 7 pound Chihuahua, so this camera is capable of tracking small critters. For a day or two it was fun to watch my dogs from work, but only for a day or two. So I lowered the sensitivity and now it only beeps at me a few times a day. When I come home, it does indeed track me as I walk across the room. The quality of the picture is outstanding. I see it on my iPhone in 1080P. That is a sharp picture! So, it is able to connect to wifi, track critters as small as 7 pounds, has a hi-res camera, and sends notifications to me when something has moved. What more could I ask for. This is a great product for the price.

Works Great
Going into this purchase at $39 bucks I knew not to expect too much from this little cloud cam. But for that price it does provide great value and everything we were looking for. Got this to check in on new kittens we are fostering when we are not home. I did not buy an SD card or use the cloud pay service, we are just using it for live video. No need to record video at this time. I didn't give 5 stars only because what should have taken 2 minutes for setup took 30 minutes. For some reason the camera would not scan the QR code you need to activate it. I was standing there moving the QR code back and forth in front of the camera forever and then it finally took. I have the 1080p dome camera and picture is great. Love that you can rotate and zoom the camera from your phone app. Crystal clear picture even in a basement with low light. You can share the camera view out to other people, they just need to download the YI app and scan a QR code you provide them.

the app is unreliable and needs work. co has not resolve long-standing problems.
Update: Dealing with the app has been frustrating, lately. (downgrading by 2 stars)The company can't seem to improve the reliability of the phone app. I have had these cameras for nearly a year and the app continues to have the same problems, in fact the app seams to have degraded since I first started using it.* for triggered recordings, the "View entire clip" feature does not work consistently. Many times, when I see some activity, I'm only about to see the 6 seconds, but when I click "View entire clip" it just goes to live view. So, I'm not able to view the entire recording.* there's no way to actually search for a particular time or to browse past events in the timeline. It always tends to update the timeline to the current time, so I cannot scroll to, say, the previous day to look for events. And, I needed to do that because of the first problem.-------------------------------------- original reviewI tested a few different cameras and decided to go with Yi because they have a good assortment of cameras that are generally well-built and reliable and relatively inexpensive. (although, I think the outdoor camera is a bit expensive).Their cams can accept SD cards so cloud is not required. Cloud is an option. The app is relatively intuitive to use. Yi doesn't have a web app, and I think it's fine. I only access from the phone anyway. They focus their efforts on making the phone app work well, and it generally does. The cameras and app couldn't be easier to pair. When a new camera is turned on, you just face the app at the QR code and that's about it.However, one big problem: I was never able to do was to share a camera with another app user. They provide two methods of sharing a camera. By QR code or Username. Neither worked. I hope they can fix this and get a patch out.Cons:* motion detection could be better. I get many of hits from bugs flying across and tree shadows swaying. The Home 2, Indoor cam is smarter to recognize humans, but the tech is not available in the outdoor camera (too bad).* The motion detection region could be more flexible. Currently, it only allows for regioning one rectangle area. But, I have paths that are trapazoidal shapes.* There needs to be a way to remotely reset the camera. There had been times where I needed to reset a camera because it was acting funny.* RTSP streaming option would be good for hooking up the camera to NAS surveillance solutions. Thus, the solution is pretty proprietary.* if motion detection is on, there is no way to turn off notification events per camera. There are some cases where I want to record street activity events, but the events are too frequent and I don't want to be notified. There's no way to turn off notifications per camera.* I wanted the Yi app to have a different notification sound than the other apps. Some phones have this feature, but mine doesn't. There is no way to set the notification tone in the app. However, I was able to find a 3rd party app that does it: MegaSound (there are several)* I would like to see a custom notification sound for each camera so I can audibly tell which camera was triggered.* Bug: Cannot share a camera with another user.

great quality, easy setup if you've used any smartphone app before
I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. The video is clear, and it worked as expected. setup was easy but it helps to have someone who is tech and app savvy to do it. So, don't give this to grandma and expect her to do it alone if she's the one that wants to monitor something. I was able to monitor the camera live from my phone or laptop. be aware that if you're using the website you'll have to keep it active if you're continually watching. you can buy cloud support to record 24/7 - it does not come standard. However, because I read through everything before I bought it, this was expected. The range is great, but be aware that it is better when you mount this upside down on a ceiling. If you put it on a table (like an end table) and expect it to be able to see the floor in front of it, its not gonna happen. Good quality, will probably buy another from them for outdoor use. This could totally be used as a baby monitor although you need to turn the notifications up and volume up all the way.

Great value and good features
I have made various video monitors over the past few years watching the pictures get better and prices lowering. This was the best combo I’ve purchased. My reasons;First - easy to install. Instructions were clear and the device indicated when it was connected. Two - didn’t need to use vendors cloud. I added my own storage and that was sufficient for my needs.Three, remote access and camera panning. Although this is lower on my list, it wound up being one of my favorite features. I am monitoring a pool and just being able to move the camera with my phone added great value. I don’t need additional monitors now.Four - value. For the price I don’t mind having it outside with a chance of getting damaged (I have teenagers) by some errant beach ball.Dislikes. Alert works well but does have limited recording time (at least on storage card).Occasional weird adjustments. I had this inside when we had some work done on the house, contractors mentioned that they heard the camera taking pictures. I checked it out and it just seems to make noise when the lens adjust.

Great camera, terrible app.
I purchased 1 of these dome cameras, along with two outdoor cameras and the indoor camera. The cameras themselves are fine - picture quality is good, night vision is good, love the Micro SD card recording (no cloud subscription necessary to view and download video) and the setup was super easy. Dome cameras' ability to pan is great. I can watch what my pets are doing while I'm away, even without a cloud subscription. ALL the problems are with the app and their lack of support for it.When I first got these a couple weeks ago, they worked pretty well. It took a little getting used to the "quirks" of the motion detection and notification system (there are delays built-in and some settings to mess with), but they were working and recording acceptably. Then came an app update and an iOS update. That's when it got really bad. (I am running the app on an iPhone X with iOS 12.0)First, the cameras all disappeared from the app, as though I never installed them. I also was unable to log into my account or reset my password. Nothing was working. I wrote to tech support through their web page and got no response. Then I posted on their Twitter page and 12 hours later got a response saying they had been performing "server maintenance" and that everything should be working now. Another 12 hours after that I finally got a response from the email I sent through their tech support, basically saying the same thing. Well, the cameras reappeared in the app and they are working and recording, but since that event I am not getting ANY notifications at all that the cameras are picking up motion or recording. They are still recording, and flagging motion events and I can view the footage in the app, but I get no notifications, I have to manually check the cameras every so often. This defeats the purpose of having a motion detection system. Also, now motion detection is spotty. Sometimes it detects fine, other times it completely misses obvious stuff. I can go out in front of the camera and do jumping jacks and it doesn't detect that, but it will detect a squirrel running across the ground. It even missed the trash truck going by in the alley this morning, even though it went right through the middle of the camera's view. The delay on motion events is also pretty bad now - It takes about 30 minutes for an event to show up in the app after it's been recorded. They really need to get their act together with the app. The cameras are good and significantly cheaper than other options. The app, when it works, is easy to use and intuitive for the most part. But none of that matters if it can't work reliably. These are security cameras - They are supposed to detect , record and notify of motion in front of the camera. If they can't do that, it's not really an effective security system, is it?

I wouldn't be without it now!
The little app on my phone and the camera in my 85 yr old father's apartment allows me to check in on his safety and talk to him thru the speaker in the camera anytime of the day! I love it! He likes it. I can remind him to let his dog out, to get up and go for a walk, or to get a glass of water for himself. I can control the angle of the camera to check if he's still in bed, or God Forbid, on the floor. I can ask him how he's doing from my office at work 3 miles away. What a wonderful product. I've been telling everyone how much I rely on it and what a value! It's sturdy and well worth the money which was surprising low! Everyone should have one even if just to monitor their pets at home. It's fun to watch my dad's dog when I call him thru the mic on the camera!

Started off great then went sour. At this point I would just like my money back.
Im reviewing the system as a whole since Amazon isn't accepting reviews on the two smaller cameras separate due to "unusual reviewing on that product" I first purchased the dome and two of these guys. I have the blink system for outdoors but I wanted something that ran all the time and the blink is on the expensive side. I liked the yi so much that I ordered two more cameras totaling 5 matching my blink camera count. I am having issues with the yi system in less than a week of ownership. Two out of five of my cameras do not playback. They record the motion detection clips fine but I can't jump back in the time line. The timeline almost looks corrupt vs my other yi cameras solid timeline. I see little record lines but nothing solid. I am very techy i have tried all the troubleshooting steps. I have reset the cameras, deleted them from the app, formatted the cards (which are all new Samsung cards and work) I don't know what to do anymore. Maybe they need another firmware update ( yes the initial update was done).PROS:Price!Great Picture quality for it being 720p and for the priceapp is easy to usecamera set up is a breezeuses sd cards so you don't have to pay for online storagelove the wide angle and how it pans side to side when you hold your phone verticallybuild quality seems of good quality on non moving camerasI like that they run all day as opposed to only turning on with motion like the blink.CONS:The App has ads now! This makes me feel like the company is unprofessionalapp could use a little polishing it seems that there are a lot of redundant options making it seem that the cameras don't respond to the app which probably isn't the case you just have to disable another setting somewhere else in the appThey shouldn't include cloud options under every part of the app if you chose to use local memory. Also cloud options are rather expensive when other companies give you storage free.3 out of 5 cameras record. They should be working on more updates to fix the issuesbuild quality of dome camera seems a bit cheap. Could be made smaller and more robust. The actual dome you could tell are two pieces of plastic put together.UPDATE 11/9/2018 1 star mostly in part for the 720p cheaper yi cameras that amazon wont allow a review onI wish this company would just send me my money back for this purchase. This one camera does not give me any issues besides not the clearest picture and I dont think you would be able to recognize anyone like the other reviewers say unless you know them. During the day when it is dim in my house I can barely see my chocolate lab in his crate. As for the 720p cheaper cameras since I still cannot leave a review on them due to Amazons message which they clearly haven't sorted out: Sorry, we are unable to accept reviews for this product. This product has limitations on submitting reviews. There can be a number of reasons for this, including unusual reviewing activity.Amazon is doing a big disservice to us by leaving them as best seller and not letting anyone leave anymore review on it. The camera sucks besides being able to view live. There are always updates that fix nothing. Playback freezes and sound is never matched up to the timecode. Data speed drops to a stop when live viewing causing freeze. If you use it on HD its even worse. I have the samsung 32gb cards that are useless in them bc they don't record no matter how many times you format the card. Worst decision purchase I have ever made. You get what you paid for.

Image quality is much darker than other Yi Home Cameras & SDcard slot on camera did not work
YI Cloud Home Camera, 1080P HD Wireless IP Security Camera Pan/Tilt/Zoom Indoor Surveillance System with Night Vision, Motion Detection and Baby Crying Detection, Remote Monitor with iOS, Android App First let me say, this is my 6th Yi Camera. Normally these are great, I picked this one up as the price was $45 and it was supposed to be 1080p. I have both the Yi Dome 720p and Yi Dome 1080p cameras to, the 720p runs about $40 and the 1080p about $60. This new Yi Cloud Dome running at 1080p for the $45 I thought was a good deal.It connected like all the others, within like 2 minutes, I was allow to pull it up on the phone and pc app like all the rest, I inserted a 32gb sdcard into the Cloud Dome Camera and it just kinda slid in, on all the others it would slide in to a point, then with more pressure click into place. On the phone app it doesn't show an sdcard, now I am stuck figuring out how to get my card back out as this is going straight back tomorrow. The kicker is the poor image quality on the Cloud Dome Camera, for a comparison, I have it next to a Yi Dome 720p camera. The are side by side, with Night Vision IR Light switched on, and Lens Distortion Correction off. Both are switched to HD within the app, here are pics of each to compare. The 1st is the Cloud Dome, then both cameras to show them side by side (Cloud Dome is bigger & on right), then the last pic is from the Yi Dome 720p.Maybe the details between both might be about the same, the Cloud Dome is just so much darker than the Dome 720p. This along with no sdcard access is what is prompting me to return this.I mean the Dome 720p is $5 less and is far better image quality. I found that the slot where the sdcard goes in, was not completely housed, so the 32gb card just fell to the bottom of the inside of the base. No way to get it back, so I either eat the cost of this POS camera, or eat the cost of the card. I guess I am sending the card back with the camera.

Average performance at best
I like the price point and design. The challenges: When lighting is not toward object facial recognition is not possible, Motion tracking is slow and drops off at about 45 degrees (will not track full motion of camera)., recording is possible full time or when motion is detected where you get a 6 second video push notification then you have to wait for 10 minutes before it sends any other notification again. When it records the 6 second video clip the camera will send a notification to phone app after the recording has finished, no notification sent on full time loop recording. Sound and microphone are poor and crackling.Easy to setup. The download app for PC (Windows 10) is not friendly as I got malware warnings and uninstalled it and cleaned my hard drive. As mentioned, it is a good price point but the product has challenges. If Yi improves facial recognition, tracking capabilities and increases video clip length for full time of motion being detected, the other issues would be secondary and a 5 Star product. I gave 3 stars for tech support as I didnt use them and cannot really say how good it is.

Great Baby Cam!
The media could not be loaded. So I bought this to be a permanent baby cam and it works great. I mounted it on the ceiling and installed a USB power outlet in the ceiling right behind it. The night vision is really good too you can see very small details. I do like that I can be at work and still the see the camera, however this does mean that the video of the camera is going out on the internet to a server somewhere and then back to my phone. You have to have WiFi and Internet access to get the camera to work so it would not be good for traveling. It has motion detection that will alert your device but it is very sensitive, I get alerts all day for my cat sleeping by the crib just from rolling over or a light changing in the window from a car going by.
