Leaves of Grass is a poetry collection by the American poet Walt Whitman (1819โ1892). The poems of Leaves of Grass are loosely connected, with each representing Whitman's celebration of his philosophy of life and humanity. This book is notable for its discussion of delight in sensual pleasures during a time when such candid displays were considered immoral. Where much previous poetry, especially English, relied on symbolism, allegory, and meditation on the religious and spiritual, Leaves of Grass exalted the body and the material world. Influenced by Ralph Waldo Emerson and the Transcendentalist movement, itself an offshoot of Romanticism, Whitman's poetry praises nature and the individual human's role in it. However, much like Emerson, Whitman does not diminish the role of the mind or the spirit; rather, he elevates the human form and the human mind, deeming both worthy of poetic praise. Worth the price of admission
What started out strong and inviting, slowly ebbed into redundant indoctrination. If LEAVES OF GRASS is representative of all that Whitman has to offer, I think SONG OF MYSELF is all I needed to know, or to have read of Whitman.

Who could that be? Willy Wonka? Woodrow Wilson? Walter White?

It is a classic example of classic poetry
The in depth explanation of his thoughts are very important to read and re-read in order not to miss every iota of the heart that went into the piece.

Perfect!
Ottima edizione, forse solo il carattere leggermente piccolo. I don't understand that comment saying Withman is not a poet. I suggest that guy to read a bit of History of Literature to understand the meanig of Withman's opera from a point of view a bit wider than his own glasses.

Possibly a re-translation?
This is not the original text, and several lines have been omitted. It reads like it was translated from English into another language and back to English.

A piece of classic American literature
This is a piece of classic American literature. It's not for me to review it but anyone who cares about English-language literature should have it in their collection.
