Apple iLife '08 [OLD VERSION]

Recently updated my Mac and needed to get garage band for music editing, (it is a cheap version of editing software I know but it works). I couldn't find my original disk set and needed a cheap fix. I saw this product on amazon and figured what the heck i'll give it a try. WRONG. The product didn't come in original packaging and wasn't the right disk for my computer. They fail to mention that you also need to set the computer up with previous steps, I believe re installing the OS in order for it to work as well. I ended up returning this software luckily and finding my old disks. I'm sure these work but they didn't work for what I was doing. Just be careful with software, that is all!

Picked this up so I could run some of these programs on my new to me Power Mac G5 Dual Core Apple. I have no complaints it gives the computer the basics to do simple photo editing, and iMovie editing. I really like iMovie for its simplicity and features.I'm new to the Apple eco system and the G5 was a cheap purchase for me to start learning the Apple OS and functionality.Also Apple at least on these doesn't need special serial numbers, which is cool. The software just works

I just bought an HD video camera and while iLife 6 could handle the editing, when transferring the edited video to iDVD (SD quality), the audio was missing in part or the tracks superimposed. Also, there was no way to transfer the edited HD video back to the camera. I bought iLife 08 and was very disappointed by the disappearance of so many features of iMovie 6, especially the missing chapter marks, the much more limited titling features and transitions. Other than that the bug in the audio has been fixed, there is no reason to get iLife 08, since you lose so many features. And it is still not possible to transfer the edited HD video back to the camera. Apparently Apple wants the customer, who needs the features of iMovie 6 and full HD coverage, to buy Final Cut Express.

iLife is a great package. I am not a big video person so for me, it is easy to use and gives great results without a lot of work. If you're more into complex video maybe this isn't robust enough but for me, I couldn't ask for a better, easier to use set of programs. The events in iPhoto really help to organize my pictures and make it easier to find them all. If you have a family, it's worth it!

I was planning to purchase iLife '09. Why not? It's the most current version, right? But in my research I found out that iLife '09 does not work fully with non-Intel-based Macs. And, of course, I don't have an Intel-based Mac. There are many warnings on blogs and other sites about iMovie not working properly with iLife '09 unless you have an Intel Mac. Definitely something for you to look into before you decide whether to purchase '08 or '09. Hope this warning helps you make an informed decision. If you're not planning to use iMovie, then you could probably go right to '09. But if that's something you're looking forward to using, do a little more research and maybe think about getting '08. Apple has decided to stop including iDVD on its latest version of iLife and it is no longer available on the App Store. Unfortunately, they have chosen to not offer a replacement or substitution. The only way to acquire it now is to purchase an old DVD version of iLife. Being such an old version, I decided to gamble my $6, but when I custom installed just iDVD, Apple supplied an update that brought it up to the latest version. It now works perfectly with my iMovie 2011 on OS X Lion. Burn is a free app that will enable one to burn DVDs on iMovie 2011, but it has no where near the options and themes.

I Purchashed through Amazon and got a Great price.I had heard alot about the new features in iPHOTO, and when I saw how many new adjustments were added for photo editing, I knew I had to buy iLIFE 08.I am quite happy with it. I used to shoot mainly JPEG photos, but now I am shooting RAW format, and iLIFE is wonderful for editing those as well as other formats.Very user friendly, everything that comes with iLIFE is improved to the MAX.Any Mac owner who doesn't have iLIFE 08 SHOULD REALLY purchase this version. I run OS 10.4.11 and it runs smoooooth. Very happy with this purchase.

Honestly, this is the only reason I bought the software. In order to have GarageBand on an older mac running Tiger on a PPC, I had to secure a copy of iLife '08. For its purposes, the software suite runs like a charm. GarageBand is not a professional level audio editing suite, but it does nearly everything I need it to do. I'm not a professional musician, so I don't have those particular needs that it wouldn't be able to meet. But any amateur can do a lot with this and be satisfied at the end of the day. For $10 it's a steal.

The CD arrived shortly after the order. It was in good shape and worked just fine on my old PowerBook G4. I can now access my pics and iWeb sites again. Thanks to Amazon... again :)

It is great alternative to Microsoft Office and a whole cheaper too. It will even read and write Microsoft Office files too. You be compete nut to miss out on this software for all you Apple computer users out there.

The blurb says the requirements are "Mac OS X v10.4.9 or later." - this is not true, it doesn't work with v10.8 it says not compatible.

Good buy.Used upgrade to use on my G5.I would recommend this as a good buy to any one.
