DoorJammer Portable Door Lock Brace for Home Security and Personal Protection

I am getting ready to travel overseas and wanted to bring an extra lock for the hotels. I purchased 2 different styles/designs. The first on fits into the notch on the door where the door handle connects to the door frame. It is nice and works in my house but since I am not sure of the design or sizing of the door handles abroad, just to be safe I wanted a 2nd one that did not rely so much on the door handles. This lock feels heavy, sturdy, and well built. This looks like it will fit any door. There is a lip at the bottom of the straight piece with a rough finish on it. You slip that lip under the door. The rough finish grabs on to the bottom of the door. While holding that in place, you turn a screw knob located right above the silver stopper at the bottom of the arm. You keep turning, which tightens the foot onto the floor. Once it is nice and snug, you are done. I tested it at home and it works great. I think the door would have to be busted down before this lock would fail.

I read a story about a man who attacked a woman in her locked hotel room. He told a negligent person at the front desk that he lost his key to his room. Without checking, since he was a frequent guest, the hotel person gave him a key for the room number he asked for. He could not get in because she had the latch on, so he asked a cleaning person for help saying his wife was sleeping and they undid the latch for him. Now if I have to stay at a hotel alone which is rare, I have my lock with me. It fits easily in my suitcase and is very sturdy. My husband and I tried it out when I set it under the door and he could not get in even with the key. I told all my women relatives/friends who travel alone about this. One of the best investments I ever made.

This had no clearance for either entrance doors. I thought it would be nice to have a door slightly ajar to let fresh air in without having it be pushed open by someone outside. I was mistaken. I’m pretty petite but work out albeit it not CrossFit style. I can push it from the outside. I haven’t had my husband try it as he can breach any door. The one thing that has me concerned is the winding mechanism/nut to screw it down to the floor and flip a level. The winding is EXTREMELY TEDIOUS. I had to sit down on the ground for several minutes to get it to unlock. It will move if the door is pushed with force but a bit at a time however it is still stuck to the floor so it slides. IF there is an emergency fr medical to a fire - this will greatly impede the crucial minutes necessary to GET OUT for a lay person, elderly, or child. I know emergency personnel such as fire fighters or police could get it open but that is besides the point. I did not use this in an inside door as that was not my purpose in getting it. This is a gimmick that might as well be as seen on tv crap. It took 13 yrs, but I finally found an item to return to amazon. DO NOT GET this for your own safety! Yes, we want to keep the “bad guy” out, but are you ready to risk your lives if there is a fire or need to run to a hospital? The seller asked me for a review on why I returned it and here it is.

Does the job, but there are a couple of things to take into account. The height of the door. I intended to use this on my front door, however my door is a little higher than the full length of the travel the DoorJammers foot can extend. It was a snag that I didn't see coming, however the product comes with a individual rubber foot that can be slid underneath to secure it...but it was still too short for the door. The material the door is made out of. I use the Doorjammer now on a different door however the door is made up of a hollow wood/particle board material. The DoorJammer will stop and prevent the door from opening, but someone could easily kick through the door. Just be mindful of what kind of door you use it on. It will give you the extra couple of seconds to respond and react to the situation. Location of the DoorJammer. In the instructions for use it describes to place the DoorJammer directly underneath the doorknob/handle. This is the crucial location to place it to prevent the door being opened. Once in the right position, tighten down on the wingnut to secure the door. You can begin to see the door shift more securely into the door frame and be difficult if not impossible to open. In a possible home invasion/burglary attempt this could give you the precious seconds to be aware of your situation and react accordingly whether to call 911, run out a different exit, or grab your trusty home defense firearm.

This works exactly as advertised. It's a fairly lightweight extra layer of security while traveling. My daughter and I recently went on vacation to Hawaii and brought it with us. Since we were staying in a nice hotel (with security) we really didn't have a lot of concern for our personal safety so my daughter questioned my insistence on taking this little jewel. On the fourth night the room next to ours became occupied by a single male who we both got weird vibes off of. Unfortunately the room had an adjoining door to his room that was locked from our side but..... She pulled out and placed this in about two seconds when we were going to bed, and just looked at me daring me to say anything! It works and is worth the weight!

I saw this in the SkyMall magazine on a recent flight and couldn't wait to purchase it, however several reviewers described the problem I faced in using it for my home. I have a newer home and the floor moulding (both carpet and hardwood areas), are higher than doors that are flushed closer to the floor surface. This made this device useless in my home, however, I travel quite a bit and will take this on my next trip to see if I can use it in my hotel room. As a female traveling alone (or with my husband) the incidents I have had happen to me, this door device would not have prevented. One time I was in my room resting while my husband was out playing golf and I get a knock on my door saying, " it's maintenance needing to check on my water pressure." I was irritated for being disturbed and replied back in a relatively assertive voice, "there is nothing wrong with my water." He continued, "Yes ma'am, there is and we need entry to your bathroom." Now, I am really mad because I have been awaken from my nap and I scream very loud, "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY WATER AND STOP BOTHERING ME! " Silence on the other side of the door. Later, I checked with front desk and she told me that they would not put me in a room that needed repairs and certainly would not send maintenance without calling me first. I think that someone (another guest or hotel personnel) saw my husband leave with his clubs and who knows what could have happened if I had opened the door. Luckily, I am grumpy when awaken unexpectedly. I also purchased the Smart Home Stop Alarm (the doorstop with the built-in alarm), for hotel travel and will see which of the two devices is better for quick set-up and potential intruder effectiveness. What I liked about this device was the cost and that ear piercing sound! Hopefully, it will stay in place under the door, but with that cost I think I will keep it anyway. I would like to see the portable Door Jammer modified to fit newer homes with larger spaces under the doors and then maybe it would be worth the price. As it is now, I can't give it more than 3 stars.

Appears well constructed and sturdy. Comes with a velvet carrying case too. Couple of words of advice for the buyer to consider before purchasing. First, (and this seems obvious, but it wasn't to the person in this household who purchased it) this device works only to keep a closed door closed. It does not prevent a slightly opened door from being opened any further. This Door Jammer was purchased in hopes of allowing a door to be left ajar for fresh air circulation and not allowing the door to be opened any farther as to let in an unwanted guest. But of course, this device only prevents the door from moving forward. If the door can be moved backward just slightly, the device will fall over rendering it useless. Second, precaution: if you are using this on carpeting it may not work as the carpeting may allow the device to slide thus rendering it ineffective. It might work on the low cut carpeting.. The Door Jammer works best on hard surfaced floors.

Bought for a side door I rarely use, that has a glass window preventing the use of a standard deadbolt. This item works really good. The base of mine is on a wooden floor, so it does slide a little bit, if the door it really forced. It would take a bit of time and a lot of noise to bust through this, so I'd say it's effective. If you are putting yours on carpet, I don't think it would budge at all. High quality, so I think it's worth the price. I'd recommend this to others.

Bin sehr zufrieden. Nach etwas Probieren klappte mein Test. Ich drückte sehr stark gegen und das Teil blockiert. Ich weiß nicht was passiert wenn ich noch stärker Druck ausgeübt hätte, (wollte nichts schädigen). Aber selbst wenn es bei Super Druck aufginge, finde ich es bereits so schon gut. Denn es signalisiert nach draußen dass ganz klar ein Widerstand da ist und mit Geräuschen zu rechnen ist, wenn man ihn bricht. Also der Widerstand ist schon deftig. Hätte ich nicht gedacht. Würde das Teil wieder kaufen. Händler war auch gut. Wichtig: Teil sollte unter der Türklinke angebracht werden, bei mir ist es ein PVC artiger Boden bzw. ein Plastikbelag. Allerdings mit leichten Unebenheiten, dennoch funktionierte es an 2 Türen. Haustüre und Wohnungstür. Hat man das Teil erst mal eingstellt kann man es so lassen und bei nicht Verwendung einfach nach oben hin wieder wegziehen und dann wieder verwenden wie es ist. Man muss nicht jedesmal neu schrauben und anpassen. Mit Sicherheit im Notfall besser als wenn man es nicht hätte. Man kann es ja vielleicht noch mit einem Alarm kombinieren oder was anderem . Natürlich ersetzt sowas nicht ein gutes Schloß ist aber ein sehr guter Notbehelff bzw. zusätzliches tool

L'appareil est simple et rapide à mettre en place, je l'ai testé sur plusieurs type de porte (simple d'intérieur, porte d'entrée pvc, porte d'hôtel) et ça fonctionne très bien. L'avantage c'est que la partie qui se glisse sous la porte n'est pas très longue, donc même si il y a un butoir ça n'est pas problématique. Pas plus grand qu'un smartphone ça se transport très facile (ultra léger en prime). Ca reste quelque chose pour bloquer une porte de manière simple, ça n'est pas en remplacement d'une serrure par exemple, donc la solidité est relatif, nul doute qu'après quelques coup de pied/d'épaule l'engin finisse par céder. Je vois ça pour bloquer les porte d'hôtel (entrée ou douche), ça évite les ouvertures accidentel. Maintenant 28€ je trouve que c'est un peu cher pour ce que c'est, mais on va dire que c'est le prix de la tranquillité d'esprit.
