Exo Terra Collapsible Snake Hook

Worked great for a small rat snake we have as a pet. For smaller snakes at this price, it is a great purchase.

This hook is very lightweight and compact when folded up which is a plus.Also, it has a handle which is very handy. It would be great for handling smaller snake species. However, I would not recommend using it on anything more than hatchlings or juvies of medium snake species. Since it is so lightweight, it bends easily so any significant amount of weight could damage it or injure a larger snake. I was given this product at a discounted price for my honest and unbiased review.

It's a nice size and not as flimsy as some, but after 2 nights of snake rescues, it became really temperamental, refusing to collapse back after use. It was never used on heavy snakes. Neonates and juveniles only. Then again, it's not a $45 hook, so it's unfair to expect it to perform like one. It's a cheap emergency back-up that'll do to rescue a small snake off a road when you've left your real hooks at home.Later note: I ordered a second one as a back-up after briefly misplacing the first one. The second one had the same issue immediately on removing it from the package -- refused to telescope back in the first time I extended it just to see if it worked better than the first. So, clearly this is a design flaw that affects this product, not just a random fluke that I got a bad one the first time around.

I understand for the price and portability that this was not going to be top of the line. with that being said i gave it four stars because it does the job for small to mid size snakes. It has fasteners built in that are meant to keep it structurally stable but breaking it down can be difficult. If you are nervous to handling reptiles id recommend at lease 3.5 to 4 foot snake hooks.

So far, so good. I could relate to other reviews concerns if I were dealing with a heavier bodied snake but the only one (of the 4 species I own) that I need a hook for is a grumpy Great Basin Gopher. He is a decent size and the hook has been perfect for him.

Not as sturdy as I had imagined. Intended to use for my subadult Python but he's too heavy, seems like the hook will snap easily. Okay to use on my other Python but definitely only temporarily until I can find a better one

Works as intended for colubrids and lighter weight snakes. Will work for maneuvering ball pythons and small boas, but not for lifting them.

Bought this as for some reason my snake has turned a bit aggressive and couldn't put my hand in to get her out, every time I put my hand in she'd strike at me.With this I can feel a bit more comfortable in getting my snake out in order to feed/clean etc without having my hand latched on to 👌

Gute Qualität, lässt sich leicht ausziehen und wieder zusammenschieben. Ich würde ihn aber eher nur für kleinere oder leichtere Schlangenarten nutzen. Wir haben den Haken für unsere Hakennasennatter geholt, bei ihr lässt er sich super verwenden.
