I just want to play Kuon. Will this allow me to play it?

You'll need to patch and burn the game ISO. FreeMcBoot does not allow imports to be played from original discs due to regional locks on the disc drive.

Yes and no. You'll have to patch and burn the ISO file onto a blank DVD. The disc drive is region-locked, FreeMcBoot basically lets you run games from back-ups essentially.

Do i need to get a ide hard drive for this to work?

Unless you're wanting to load games from the HDD attachment, it isn't needed. Even then, you can easily buy a small mod for the network adapter to fit SATA's instead of IDE's.
