Great book for young chemists
Great book for young science enthusiasts! The experiments are easy to read and follow using common household products. My 8 yr old enjoys the quick and fun experiments without getting bogged down with too much explanation that is over her head.

Chemistry for Kids
I've used this book extensively for my "Chemistry for Youth" classes. It was well written without going overboard. It has lots of diagrams with plenty of space on the page for easier comprehension. The book relies on materials found in grocery stores and hardware stores without being too complicated. I appreciate how I can choose whatever I need to fit into my themes of the day. I think the most potent of any items suggested are ammonia, bleach, detergent, and rubbing alcohol. As long as the students are prepared on how to behave before, during, and after the labs, no problems ever! Parents seem to enjoy these demos too which show basic laws of physics. What I hope my students take away is how scientists discovered elemental natures by experimentation. Of course, using this book extends a kid's scientific vocabulary a lot!

So glad I discovered this book and author!
My six and seven year old girls requested that we study chemistry this year for science. This book is well organized and has experiments that my girls will enjoy and can do with me assisting. I plan to purchase more of her books to use as part of our homeschool science.

My kids love it!
This book isn't exactly all chemistry experiments but we still like it. There are quite a variety of experiments and my kids wished there were more that exploded.. but they enjoy everything we do from this book and they always ask to do an experiment from this book (as opposed to our regular science curriculum). Each experiment gives the scientific lesson that is being taught. It is very simple to use.

Cool chemistry
We bought this for our homeschool, and are very happy with it. The experiments use simple items that can be easily obtained at your local grocery or department store (many of them, you'll probably already have), and the experiments actually work (so far, anyhow). It's a fun book that would be great for any kid who is interested in science. My 6-year-old says: "I've only done 6 of the experiments, but it's really fun so far, so I'm thinking the rest is going to be fun. If you want to know what one of the experiments is, here goes: if you put 4 holes at the bottom rim of a paper cup and put the cup under water and pinch the streams of water that come out, see what happens!"

Science made easy and fun for kids
I have used this book for many years in the classroom where I taught grades one and two. The students loved doing the experiments and learned many useful facts. I would recommend this series of books to both teachers and parents whose children have an interest in science. I bought this one for my grandson who will be 8.
