Weight matters
I waffled between this unit, with it's 3.0 amp-hour NiMH batteries, and the model with 3.5 amp-hour units. It turns out that this drill is about 1/2 pound lighter than the other, a smart trade-off because you're only losing 15% of run-time. The weight difference is seen in the user's manual, not on Amazon's erroneous description.Buying anything heavier than this drill would be a big mistake for me. At work, we have a Porter-Cable 19.2 drill that is an absolute beast. We need all the torque we can get at work, because we regularly use it to drill through steel. But you get fatigued immediately with this clumsy, bulky drill. As a woodworker, I sometimes use my drill-driver for hours on end- and having a light drill is absolutely mandatory. At 15.6 volts and with it's two-speed gearbox, this Panasonic has more than enough torque. This drill is also very compact- more so than my cheapie Black and Decker 12 volt drill. That helps me get into tight corners. The chuck is high quality and easy to use.I added a Bosch Clic-change quick-release chuck and driver set for rapid changing between my countersinking drills and my drivers.Paired together, this is quite an effective, powerful, lightweight and efficient drilling system.

expensive but worth it
Pros:1/2" chuck, high torque at lower speeds, compact, comfortable grip, chuck stays tight and is easy to use, quality built for professional use.Cons: Motor gets hot, especially at lower speeds. somewhat heavy and makes an unusual noise at lower speeds. It's more money than I wanted to invest in a drill but if it continues to work well and the battery packs last, I'll be happy.

The Best NiMH Drill/Driver
We have been using this model Panasonic in our fabrication shop for years. Not commonly found in stores, this drill tends to be found in the hands and toolboxes of professional craftsmen and technicians. The design is just about perfect with no useless bells and whistles and a grip that is also comfortable for users with smaller size hands. By far the best power-to-weight ratio you can find. The torque is nothing short of amazing and the light weight will be appreciated when performing repetitive tasks - especially overhead. The clutch is superb and the keyless chuck works much better that most. The charge on the 3.5 amp hour battery packs goes for a LONG time after a relatively short charging period. We have never been able to break or wear out one of these drills aside from the inevitable demise of the battery packs which are very pricey to replace - not surprising considering the 3.5 amp hour rating. This is truly a professional grade tool that will be appreciated by any user.

charger died
Worked great for exactly 2 years. Now charger is blinking yellow light "clogged with dust or malfunction of the battery pack". Called Panasonic, they could offer me nothing, is only warrantied for 1 year. Said I should take is to closest service center 3 hours away. They could not offer any compensation. Tried to take charger apart myself, but requires tiny hard to reach star bit and haven't succeeded in opening it yet. Wish I had bought something with a better warranty.

Not Like They Used to Be - (Very) Long Term Review...
Panasonic EY6432NQKW 15.6-Volt NiMH 1/2-Inch Cordless Drill/Driver Kit Purchased my first drill back in 1998 while remodeling our first town home. I used this drill more than any other tool. Performed flawlessly, plenty of power held a charge forever - no complaints whatsoever. So in 2010, halfway through another major remodel on our second home, and with the original batteries holding their charge noticeably less, I looked for replacements. At the time, 2 replacement batteries cost nearly as much as an entire drill set so I purchased the identical kit. Since then I've had 2 housings and 4 batteries, swapping them out as needed.I wrapped up the remodel in 2013 or so and since then all 4 batteries have seen only very occasional use. Over the past 2 years I noticed that 1 or 2 of the batteries weren't holding a charge hardly at all - drill 2 or 3 holes and the battery would be completely dead from a full charge. Today, I just got around to looking at them a little more closely...The batteries that don't hold a charge at all are the ones from 2010! Serial numbers are much higher than the original 2. Looking a little more closely at the labels - the set from 1997 has 'made in Mexico' on the housing, and 'made in Japan' on both batteries. 20 years later, after considerable use in 2 major remodel projects, this set is still going reasonably strong - batteries hold a charge for a half hour or so, but still provide some amount of meaningful life. The 2nd set? Both housing and batteries are now labeled 'made in China'...I won't be buying another...

Panasonic drill ok, used to be great
I used two own several and loved them. This is much cheaper, which is great, but I think they put in a cheaper Chuck, and it doesn't seem to tighten all that well on drill bits. So, that is a bum

I was shopping for new batteries for my old Panasonic 15.6 V cordless drill/screwdriver. I found such a good price on a new drill with two batteries that I bought another kit and extra batteries. Now I have two cordless drills/screwdrivers with plenty of batteries. This Panasonic is the best I have ever owned. Better than the other major brands I have owned, and those are several.Great torque, long battery life, fast recharging time, easy to hold and work with, good balance. Not the cheapest price, not the highest price, but excellent value for a long life and useful tool.

Great tool in many ways
I have owned Panasonic cordless drills before and in my opinion they are the best drills on the market. Well balanced and plenty of power with long lasting charge with quick turn around with charging. Being left handed this drills design is very friendly to use and it's compact shape and design despite being a 1/2 inch drill/driver is quite extraordinary.A exceptional tool to use!
