Ingenious Tool with Room for Improvement
When you need it, the tool pays for itself. It works well and here are two suggestions to make it even better:1. There is no need for the turn knob to be threaded onto the stem. If you have a stubborn valve core, the knob simply becomes loose and useless in the operation of removing the old valve core. If I didn't have a manual valve core removal tool to loosen the old core before using this tool, I would have been stuck. At a minimum, locktite should be applied on the threads from the factory.2. The seating of the new valve core on this tool's stem is a bit shaky. If there's a way to better secure the new valve core onto the stem when installing, that would be a plus. Perhaps a rubberized catch within the stem to better grab the valve core pin. During the removal process, it took about 5 tries before the stem was able to "grab" the old valve core pinhead and I was able to slide it out with the stem. Although a bit shaky, installing the new stem worked on the first try. It is possible that I received a defective tool since it was obvious the one I received had been used before. If someone can take a close-up pic of the stem that grabs the valve core, that would be great.Notes: In case anyone is wondering, the removal of the old valve core requires counter-clockwise turning as you would expect. My application was on the low side of a 2005 Toyota Tacoma 6 Cyl and access was easy.All-in-all, an ingenious tool that does what is intended; replacing a valve core on the low side without the need to lose refrigerant. The designer of this tool should be smiling ear-to-ear; nicely done. This is a well made, mostly brass piece. It's heavy as you would want and produces no leaks during use. As others have reported, during the operation, there will be resistance on the stem as the refrigerant attempts to escape. Stick with it and be patient. It may take a few tries, but, the old valve core will come out.A 5-star tool when you need it that gets dinged a star for the minor improvements it can use. If you have a leaking low side valve core, don't hesitate to get this tool.

Great tool, but could be improved a little
This is a neat tool that works exactly how it should. It saves a lot of hassle and bother by not needing to discharge/recharge the a/c system. However, they could have made the connector swappable with a high side connector, instead of having to buy another tool if you need to use it for the high side port (another manufacturer has this feature). One thing to consider when using this tool is how much space is available. My low side port is not out in the open, and required a bit of finesse to work the tool to where I could get it on. Once you remove the valve core, the valve core rod will push out under the pressure from the system and add a few more inches onto the length of the tool. You will need about 7" of clearance or at least a way to move any obstructions in order to use this. Also, when re-installing the new valve core, you do have to push on the rod a fair amount, as you are pushing against the pressure in the system. Shouldn't be a problem for anyone, but just something to be aware of. The blue valve handle looks plastic in the picture, but it is painted metal. The connector is anodized aluminum. Everything else is brass.Unfortunately, it's made in China, but I think you'd have a hard time finding a U.S. made version that isn't a $200 set that handles everything (and maybe not even then). Regardless of the origin, it's a good tool when you need it. The end of the rod looks like it has space for valve cores, but I have no cap (it's possible it fell off when using it). It is threaded on the inside, so I could just custom make my own cap if I feel like it.

Great tool, but mine was previously used and repackaged(?)
Great tool..., made in China, but seems well built for the task. Changed out the low pressure schrader valve on a '05 Chevy Tahoe in maybe 2 minutes (it's that easy). It hadn't leak until I removed the quick coupler on my fine Chinese made manifold gauges. One thing though (mentioned by another reviewer as well), mine came in a box, inside a bag that was once >sealed< , but had been taped closed in a repackaging effort (used and returned). Really guys..., for all of what it cost and for what it does... be thankful there's a tool this neat and just keep it for future use. Cause next time, even with Prime shipping, chances are you'll loose a good portion of your Freon charge waiting the 2+ days to get it.

Fabulous!!
This tool makes swapping out a leaky core valve on a car low side 134A valve an absolute piece of cake. It took me about 5 minutes in all and that was my first try.... next time it should take me 2 minutes flat! The tool doesnt come with instructions and the way it works is very obvious but there are some tips that will make the job go smoother. First off shut the engine off. I know this seems obvious but I have seen other Interdynamics instructions say to run the AC while you attach to the service port -- wrong!!!Next when you are ready to put the new core valve in, dont just drop it in the core remover. It wont center properly. The way to do it is to place the top of the valve core carefully into the slot in the bottom of the rod first. Then slowly and carefully place the valve and rod together into the tool already on the service port and snug up the valve. This tool is worth every penny and seems to be extremely well made out of brass parts.

Does NOT work on all vehicles!
Bought this to fix my 01 Ranger and my daughters 05 Liberty. Didn't work on either as they have the bigger Valve Cores (8 mil). Had to buy another tool which works on the 8 & 10 mil valves. Amazon didn't carry the tool that works on just the 8 & 10 cores so I had to google and find another store. Amazon carries a kit that handles all the sizes but I decided to keep this tool and get the 8 &10 tool. If you search around other auto part store web sites you can find what size your valve core is before you buy the wrong tool like us.

used
i received a used unit. looks like someone bought it, used it, and returned it. Fits 98 honda accord low side port. Do not buy a/c valve core from autozone, they fit but the tip to depress is shorter so you will not be able to refill your a/c with that valve. $7 mistake... (lost the receipt)
