PAC RP5-GM31 Package for 07-12 Silverado/Tahoe/Suburban/Sierra/Yukon/Avalanche

I used this with a Pioneer AVH-X490BS in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ Crew Cab (new body style). This easily retained factory OnStar settings, steering wheel controls, and also the rear factory audio controls for rear passengers. A radio antenna wire was included in the package and worked flawlessly. I didn't have to program the unit in any way other than change the dip switch to position 7 for "Pioneer" units. The door chime is very loud, but has a dip switch volume control to turn it down. I am very happy with this product. It made installing my new head unit a complete breeze. I highly recommend this over other options out there.

Installed this in a 2010 Chevy Traverse. It works great. The instructions are a little hard for manually programming the steering wheel control. I did find out that you need an additional adapter if your installing an Android head unit. PAC customer service was great, and said I needed PN: SWI-ADAPT. Wich is brand new and I could only find it on crutchfield for $20 after shipping. Hopefully Amazon will have this available soon for you. I will tell you that there is a lot of stuff going on with this data link. Manufactures don't give a lot of room behind the head unit. So wait on zip ties and wrapping until you know how to route the multiple harnesses for your vehicle and if your able solder and heat shrink the connections it will help keep the mass down.

This worked well for my 2011 Chevy Avalanche.Instructions are decent but could be more in depth. I called tech support and they were able answer the question I had.I would mount the small box for the door chime /signal sound somewhere inconspicuously in the cabin. At first I put mine inside the dash behind the stereo but I could not hear it

I don’t write many reviews but I had done a lot of research for different interfaces for my GMC Acadia and finally decided on this. Super easy installation and setup. Has default settings for different brand aftermarket radios, just set it to the brand you are installing, wire up the radio harness to the additional leads from this unit and plug it in. Steering wheel controls work perfectly and the integration for the factory back up camera plugs right in. Highly recommend if you want to keep all of your standard features from your car but upgrade the radio. I paired this with a Pioneer touch screen with Apple Car play capability and am beyond pleased with the result.

Update: Upon instruction from PAC audio, I reset the unit and now steering wheel controls work. All functions are working.This module did not keep my steering wheel controls as advertised. Other functions worked. Also, after installation when I call OnStar it is incredibly loud and no way to adjust that.

The truck has Onstar on the rearview mirror and steering wheel controls, was able to use this to replace the factory radio and keep everything working. Also liked that it came with additional speaker for the chimes and have an adjustable volume level. We also have Sirrus but don't use it anyway so didn't hook it up. The directions were a little confusing, I did all the wiring to the Pioneer radio harness into the RP5 at a table first to make, this way i could just remove the factory radio, plug the new one in and close it all up. This was easier than sitting in the hot sun trying to install it all in the truck.

Everything hooked up exactly like it was supposed to in my 2012 Chevy 2500.Read directions, follow directions and a touch of common sense later and the head unit works great!With this set up I can convert back to stock without splicing the hardwired setup and just remove the harness. Perfection.

I installed this in a Chevy Silverado and works great. I did have a few wires that I did not know what to do with after I hooked it up. I called product support two times and both times they were very helpful, great attitude and helped me figure out with no problems. The installation at first looked pretty intimidating with all the wires, but they are color coated and matched up pretty well. The unit works great with all the steering wheel controls working as they are supposed to. Highly recommend.

Excellent quality and excellent service. Got this for my ‘08 Silverado to install an Android head unit. Instructions are clear and easy for anyone with basic car electronic skills. Head unit side wire colours match industry standard so no confusion when hooking it up. Truck side wiring connectors fit the factory wiring perfectly and locked together properly. I couldn’t figure out the Android head unit steering wheel inputs due to no info from the head unit manufacturer. I contacted PAC support via email and got a clear (correct) answer describing exactly how to hook it up the next day. This works exactly as described - all of my truck’s electronic options are preserved and work thru this unit. The steering wheel controls work, OnStar still works (even though I don’t use it), the factory amp and Bose speaker system sound as good as they did with the factory radio and the warning chime volume can be adjusted which is better than factory (the turn signals were very quiet before). There is no stray ignition hiss or other interference in the audio, just clean sound. The small box fits nicely in the center dash behind the AC control module under the radio with lots of room for the wires. If I had one wish it would be for the unit to also connect the factory OnStar mic and provide a 3.5mm plug output option to the head unit side of the wiring so it could be used for hands-free phone calls and voice commands. Given all the other features and vehicle connectors included in this unit, I suspect it is probably not something easy to do or it would be in there.

Ive purchased 2 of this same unit and both units had the Manufacturer defect. I see from a lot of other reviews that people are having the same issue.The wiring harness that connects to the module does not aline to give the unit power. In picture above, for the unit to work correctly the red wire that gives the unit 12v accessory power should be in the top right of the wiring harness. And in this instance they're were 2 wires with constant power when there should have been one that was a switch live and one with constant.BE AWARE! This Manufacturer may give you a faulty set of wires like they gave me TWICE! Absolutely unacceptable seeing as I had to pay a garage they're time in labour to try and install it, only to realize that the wiring was defective.Very unhappy with this purchase and PAC'S customer service is pretty much non existent I'm leaving this review to warn others of THEIR NEGLIGENCE. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!

Soldering the color matched wiring was the longest part of the install but both the head unit manual and RP5 manual had clear instructions. It was awhile ago but I think it was the parkbrake wire, reverse wire, and steering wire that didn't color match so go with the labels instead. Steering 3.5mm didn't work for me so I used the wire instead. XM works through the AUX just fine. Tiny speaker for door chime is bogus but the many new features my stereo has outweigh this detail.
