For years I have been using timers for my outdoor fountain and tree lights. They did the job but anytime I would need to change a setting, I would have to usually unplug it, bring it inside where I can see the tiny switches or numbers and then take it back outside. I’ve been using wifi outlets inside my home for several years now and have them on an easy to set up schedule. It never really crossed my mind that there could be an outdoor wifi outlet with 2 plugs. And then I stumbled across the Etekcity outdoor smart plug and thought I’d give it a shot. The setup was fairly simple. I’ve set up many of my indoor smart plugs so I was already familiar with the process. Even so, I had some minor difficulties getting this one going. Whenever I attempted to have it search for my wifi, I would get a “timed out” message. I was less than 10 feet from my wifi hub. After restarting the app, and maybe 10 tries later, I finally got it connected. I created 2 schedules. One for each plug. The process is similar to other wifi plugs with some minor differences but you can usually figure them out. Once I got the schedules set up, I waited to see if they worked. And so far it has worked flawlessly. Best of all, I can control everything from my phone which is very very convenient. I love this smart plug and would highly recommend it.

I ordered this plug so I could integrated it with Alexa and be able to setup a schedule to run my above ground pool pump and salt chlorinator. I setup my pump to run from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm but wanted my chlorinator to only run from 8am to 5pm. I used the app and adjusted the schedule a few times to get it to turn the stuff on and off that worked best for me. It worked perfect! The setup was very easy and connecting to the network was very simple. Keep in mind this unit appears to only work on the 2.4ghz network and not a 5ghz (no biggie, most routers broadcast both network types). Only other issue I had was the round plug bumped the test button on my gfci outlet so I just pulled it out ever so slightly so it didnt trip the plug. I will be buying more of this product- it is one of the easiest and simple to setup smart devices I have ever purchased. It is also built very sturdy and I dont expect to have any issues with it.

I purchased this timer/switch/receptacle to power a small sand pump/filter on my pool and also to control some LED lighting, and I couldn't be happier with it. The fact that the two receptacles work separately is great, and it's exactly what I wanted. Programming the timer function for each outlet was a breeze with the VeSync app (which is free by the way), and I can also switch each outlet on/off from my phone and Alexa voice control. It also tracks power consumption through the unit which I find interesting if not helpful to determine how much it's costing me to run my pool filter for a couple of hours, twice per day. The unit itself is advertised as weatherproof, but there are no covers protecting the plugs that are plugged into it. So far this hasn't been a problem, but I have it located in a way that the plugs come into it from the bottom so rain should just run off without collecting in the receptacles. So far, so good. If you're looking for a twin timer/switch/receptacle with independent outlet controls, this is a great item. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. (You can also name the individual outlets any name you want, so if you had 3 of these you could easily name, identify, and control up to 6 different loads.)

When this order arrives I will have 7 Outdoor Smart Plugs. I am very impressed with the ease of install and the overall connection. I also have 18 Indoor Smart Plugs. It is fun to set each device knowing they will work as instructed. I highly recommend this company. Let me add I have contacted Etekcity (APP: VySync) with a minor issue. I purchased this with my primary goal of being able to monitor the power usage of a pool pump, because I was curious what it was actually costing to run, as well as a plan to set a schedule and monitor power usage of outdoor lighting in the holidays. I haven't tested it for the latter, but it has been in use for about 2 months with the pool pump. The setup was easy, the app is decent, and I haven't had any issues with connectivity. The few times I've used it to toggle the pump and on and off, it has been very quick to trigger the action and without any problems. I appreciate that this has dual outlets which are separately controllable (I'm only using one right now, but when it's holiday light time, I will appreciate the option to control circuits on separate timers.) My main purpose for this was to monitor power usage. In the app, it does indeed show real-time power draw in volts and wattage, and there are limited graphs to see usage over time. However, this is the main source of complaint that I have - The ability to look back at data is very limited. For example, you can toggle between a "weekly", "monthly", and "yearly" view, but within each of those, you can not scroll backwards in time. So if I want to see a weekly graph for last week, that is not an option. Same goes if I want to compare one month to another - There's no way to scroll through months. I do appreciate the option to add in a cost per kWH so it can display usage not just in kWH, but in actual monetary limits, but finding this feature was not intuitive. There is an option to turn an outlet off after a certain dollar value of spend has been reached, but what about an option to simply send a notification if parameters are met, without turning off a device? In my case, I can see that the power usage on my pool pump drops drastically over a 1-2 day span if the filter is getting clogged or dirty, and otherwise remains very stable when it is clean, so an option to send an alert if it falls outside a set range but keep it running would be nice. Overall, I'm pleased with the product. As this is monitored as an "energy monitoring" device, I wish there were more features related to the actual energy monitoring, since it seems to be mainly a smart outlet that happens to record minimal usage data. However, it's providing enough to suit my purpose so I've kept it in use.

I have bought three of these over the years and all three are working daily outside in the weather without any issues. I love that I can use Alexa to turn on outside lights. I have one hooked up to sting lights over my deck and I also love that I can set it to come on everyday at sunset and that changes through the year as sunset time changes. They are quality and the App is easy to use. I use one for my outside Christmas lights and again set it to come on at sunset or 10 minutes before sunset. Very handy, great quality and I highly recommend them.

I bought this smart plug to monitor the power consumption for my plugin hybrid car charger. I was able to compare the results with a non-smart plug power meter and the results are usually within 2 to 3% margin of error. It’s great that it stores the power usage by weekly, monthly, and yearly time periods. You can also see the usage on any given day. I like that you can view the power usage in real-time. It has scheduling capability. This is very helpful. I noticed that the charging unit consumes power when it’s not in use. I’m able to schedule the smart plug to turn off at night to conserve energy. It has other features that I’ve yet to use, but it’s nice to know that they are there. You can control the smart plug from anywhere, provided that your smart phone or tablet has a connection to the internet. It requires that you have a router capable of a 2.4Ghz (Wireless-N) connection. Pairing it to my network was simple. It has a power indicator that lets you know that it’s turned on and connected to your network. It has a physical power button as well. I would recommend it to anyone.

Outdoor Smart Plug, Etekcity Outdoor WiFi Outlet with 2 Sockets. *of note, my outside plugs have individual socket covers that open like a door with the hinges on the left. The door broke off of the top socket so it plugs in great but only if the door on the bottom one is open (see pix). Purchased almost 2 months ago and it's been great. When it gets cold out, I keep a heating pad in a little cat house outside to keep them warm but a lot of times I would forget to turn it off before leaving for work in the morning and it was just a waste of electricity. Not only did this allow me to turn it off remotely but thanks to the so far flawless Alexa integration, I didn't even have to get off the couch to turn it on at night!! It took a minute to connect to my wifi bcz my provider's new routers don't offer 2.4ghz. Of course I didn't know that before I purchased but after trying a good 10+ times, it connected. I named the individual sockets in the Alexa app and it has never failed me once. Now that it's warm out, I'll be plugging in string lights soon!

This works even better than I expected. It did take a few minutes to set up after I realized I missed reading part of the instructions it was quite simple. I like how easy the app is to use even during times when timer is off can still control lights to turn on as well as the other way around

I bought one for the cottage last year and it worked so well that I bought one for the house this year. I love the way you can control each outlet separately to have them turn on and off at different times, that’s a must if you have to plug in two vehicles block heaters. Also being able to control them at will using the app is very convenient. Setup was easy. My only complaint is that you can’t choose to calculate your electricity costs in CAD. You have to convert from USD. But that’s not a show stopper. Highly recommend this timer.
