Cuphead - Nintendo Switch [Digital Code]

This game has totally been worth the price I paid for it. It's difficult but what keeps it from being "NES difficult" (and I remember those days well) is that you don't have to start the entire game over with when you run out of HP or quite for the day and you can retry each level as many times as you want. You do, however, have to start over at the beginning of each level/boss if you die. It wasn't as hard to "learn" as I originally was worried it would be and my 8-year-old son is able to enjoy it.There is an option between regular and simple modes in the boss levels. The simple mode dials down the attacks and shortens the battle by taking out some of the enemy transformations but you don't get the soul contracts necessary to proceed in the game. Simple mode came in handy for me when I was still learning the controls, etc. but after the first 2 boss levels I switched to regular.You can play as Cuphead or Mugman although there doesn't seem to be any differences in their game play.The art is also gorgeous, like others mentioned, and the music is wonderful. I am seriously thinking about buying the soundtrack on vinyl. The enemies are interesting-looking through all of their transformations. That helps make up for the difficulty in my opinion.Once the DLC is available sometime this year, we will definitely be getting it.

Absolutely amazing game, unbelievable graphics, awesome jazz music and sound effects, animation, storyline, gameplay, all of it. No wonder it is praised by gamers and critics. Yes, it requires some skill but I think this adds more appeal to a broader audience instead of just being an easy game that a video game savvy child will play from beginning to end in a couple of hours. Absolutely recommended as a gift, or for you for an enjoyable video game session, for children and grown ups alike. Still unsure? Think of a Mario Bros but on steroids in a 1930s cartoon theme animation. Now I want to know more about the creators and I have now become a fan of the studio. I look forward to next versions of Cuphead for years to come!Worth noting: this is a real, non-paid review from a very satisfied customer.

My kids requested this game as apparently they saw youtube videos and I thought it looked neat and old school. I grew up on Nintendo/NES Super Mario shoot em up type games so this seemed very throwback to those times. I gotta admit though, this is NOT a game for small children to easily beat themselves. Even I -- a seasoned gaming veteran -- think this game is difficult even in easy mode, so it's a good thing I enjoy a challenge! On the plus side, it's not like you ever really "die" (there's even a death counter in game!).

I absolutely love the graphics of this game! They were hand drawn in the 1930s cartoon style. That was my main motivation for purchasing.Game play: this game looks cute, but I would say that it is not well suited for young players. It is a bit of a challenging game. Young players will find it difficult to complete the different zones and may well loose interest in playing. For adult play or a more advanced player.

Fantastic game, absolutely love the art style & difficult upon first sitting (but thats why, its also an amazing game you’ve got to try out co-op. Best run & gun in years. So happy it came to the Switch; some games deserve to be on the Switch (or don’t feel right to buy for another console. ) Plus its now portable with coop & just a game you’ll play a billion times, for sure with high replay value.
