Break Them In

I will start this by saying I was pretty skeptical of buying something like this online. But my 2014 Camry had developed a vibration when braking at higher speeds, so I figured my rotors were warped. I was telling someone at work about these, and when I mentioned Detroit Axle, my friend lit up. He needed a transmission for his wife's car a few years ago. After shopping around, he bought from Detroit Axle because it was the lowest cost, had a good warranty, and had free shipping - on a transmission! And, he hasn't had any problems with it. Between my friends' good review and my cost comparison, I felt it was worth the risk. My local parts store would want $400-$600 for a basic brake kit for the whole car. And they wouldn't be this quality.Once ordered, the package arrived as quickly as could be expected. The box was very solid, and it had to be. These parts aren't light! I don't know how they do the free shipping, but kudos to them. I honestly expected to receive brakes for only the front or rear, because I was sure there was something I was missing. But no, you get everything for the whole car plus the fluids, cleaners, grease, and clips. When I installed the front brakes, I used all the new clips that were supplied. When I did the rear, I wasn't able to get one of the clips on right, so I opted to leave all the old ones on the back. I'm not sure if the problem was me or the clip.Quick side note: If you've never installed all new brakes, look up "bedding new brakes." Basically, you don't want to just throw these on and then go slam on the brakes. You can, and they'll work, but you may damage or warp the new stuff. I watched a few videos and started by getting up to about 40 mph, then lightly hitting the brakes down to about 5 mph. I did this probably a dozen times, letting the brakes cool for a minute or two before the next round. Then I drove around town for probably 45 minutes (possibly overkill), just taking it easy and letting the brakes get "bedded" before any real driving started. From what I understand, new brakes take about 500 miles to break in. I've put about 1000 miles on mine and just got back from a long drive through the mountains with lots of hard corners and ups and downs. At any speed, I can hit the brakes and get no shake and no noise. Everything seems solid. Detroit Axle has my business.

Awesome

Installed on 2014 Toyota Avalon. I was a little nervous to try these because of the reviews but glad I did. They were packaged well. The quality is great.Fit perfect. As far as installing these yourself you should watch how to do it on Youtube. The car care nut- it is my Toyota go to guy. Seriously if you own a Toyota this guy knows his stuff!!!If you want quiet brakes reuse the original TOYOTA shims and wear indicators ( or buy new )Bought and installed Nov 2023. Still look great and they stop on dime...

So far it’s working good!

I don't know much about cars but did the brakes myself after watching a few videos. We installed these on a 2014 Camry. I wish the boxes were more clearly labeled which was front and rear rotors/pads. That would be good for beginners like myself. Also the hardware doesn’t fit (like the clips) so you have to clean-up and reuse the old ones. The rotors and pads fit perfect thoughSo far everything seems to be good! Car stops great, no noises. This kit is a lot of value for a good price. I also like the fact it came with brake clean. One less thing I have to worry about buying separately. Overall I’m happy with the purchase

Looks sooooo good

I love the way they look on my car, they definitely stand out. They give you plenty of grease and brake cleaners with the kit. Only issue i ran into was that I had to use my old brake clips because the ones that came with the kit were a bit bigger and I could not get the new brake pads to fit, so just cleaned the old clips and put them on. No more rumbling, screeching, and braking really well, a bit too well. I was too used to having to hold my brake way much longer before lol
