Annoying latch

Despite what is shown in the picture, the shield has the annoying latch at the bottom front of the shield which is in your line of vision if you have the shield partially open. I realize that's standard for this shield, but I was hoping that someone had the good sense to produce a shield without it as is shown in the picture.
