Has anyone used this as a laxative and how were the results

It works great as a laxative. One of my cats gets constipated periodically. After giving him laxatone everyday for about 5 or 6 days, I see a huge improvement. Then just a couple times a week. I keep the laxatone in the refrigerator, when I squeeze the tube, it comes out more like toothpaste, easier to give to the cat. I squeeze the tube of laxatone on my index finger, about the same amount if it was toothpaste on a toothbrush, 1/3 to 1/2 inch long. ( The tube says 1/2 teaspoon - 1 teaspoon). I tilt the head back, open the cat's mouth & place the laxatone on the roof of the mouth. Works great, no runny mess & my cat gets the treatment. I have a multi cat household & this gets the job done & quickly. Good luck!

Is this dark amber colored & a firm consistency?

It's not quite as firm as Petromalt--not like a very solid squirt of Vasoline, say--but I find that my older cat is more likely to finish it as she doesn't have the difficulties of losing a 'chunk' that won't spread or stick. She eats it off the back of my hand & practically scrapes the skin off to make sure it's all gone...I've never had better luck with hairball remedy dosing!

What are the complete ingredients? Is there petroleum jelly in this product?

Yes there is but there is also mineral oil which is very effective. You can see the complete ingredients in the product pictures.

Does this product contain corn syrup?

yes,plus malt syrup.My Vet said its very good.I do got to hide it in wet food,my friend cat love's to lick it from her hand.My cat was adopted at age 8mo. never ate human food.We still trying .Shes 13y now.

Recommended for Rabbits! Get the Maple Flavoring

Vet recommended this for our Flemish giant rabbit who had stomach bloat which may/may not have been caused by hair not being passed. We started giving her this stuff, which she went crazy for, and it made a substantial difference in her bloat plus bowel movements. Works very well!

Don't hesitate - it works!

My cat used to cough up hairballs on a daily basis, leaving little messes all over the house. My daughter recommended this product to me, so I decided that I might as well give it a try. I specifically got this brand, because another reviewer said it was the best. I bought the original/regular, which is malt flavored. I know that sounds a little weird, but my cat has no problem eating it. I put about half of a teaspoon on his food every night. As long as he gets it on a daily basis, he is fine with little to no coughing and puking. Recently, I ran out of the first tube and we had to wait for the new tube to arrive. That was when I realized what a huge difference it had made. In just a couple of days, my cat went right back to coughing and leaving messes everywhere. As soon as he started on it again, he was completely better after the second dose. I don't know what I will do if they ever stop making this product. My only criticism is that there is an inner seal that is very difficult to remove. I guess it needs to be there, but I do wish the manufacturer could come up with something easier to open.

Cats Love It

Most of my cats LOVE this stuff! They lick it right off my finger. I have an older cat who doesn’t like to try new things, so I quickly smear it on her front paw, and she will lick it off. My only complaint is that the opening doesn’t retain the product very well when it’s warm outside. It oozes out without even the slightest squeeze. So I keep the tube upside down to keep from making a mess.

Like crack for rabbits

This is a great product. We give it to our rabbits (1/2 to 1 teaspoon) once a week to keep any hair ingested moving through. Rabbits can't cough up hair like cats can. They love the maple flavoring so much, it's like giving them Crack. 🤣

Look elsewhere for constipation

If you are looking for LAXATONE for CONSTIPATION - get the LAXATONE by Vetoquinol. It contains omega 3s in addition to what Tomlyn has. See ingredient photos - first photo of longer ingredients is LAXATONE by vetoquinol and the second shorter list is Tomlyn. You can confirm on chewy the ingredient list.
