Fantastic Keyboard
I just received the keyboard earlier today and currently using it. Immediately i noticed a difference in my typing, the keys are extremely comfortable. The keyboard itself is smaller then my old Thermaltake Knucker keyboard. The keys just feel amazing under every press... no longer do i miss presses, and find myself overpressing at times... due to the old rubber dome design i was so used to. After i got used to pressing the keys a little less... it improved further, the keyboard was heavy and i really like that, wish it did come with the key removal tool, but alas that is not a problem, the function key is great. People who complained about that have no idea what they're talking about. How often do people actually use the windows key anyway? I was already used to the larger enter key and smaller right shift key as well. That was also not an issue with me. Pros: -Sturdy Heavy Keyboard -Extremely comfortable and simple design -Love the clicky noise of bottoming out every press Cons: -No key removal tool? Take for example for people debating on switching over to mechanical, i am a starcraft 2, wow and league of legends player. My SC2 i went from 80 APM to 140 APM, without changing anything, also at 80 APM i was trying my heart out to get that. (Yes i have a winning record =P) Much less effort to get that 140 APM w/ the new keyboard. All gamers i recommend you switch... NOW.

Best keyboard ever constructed.
Now, I think it's worth mentioning I'm a hardware guy. Not just the computer itself, but it's peripherals, come naturally to me. I see something hardware related, and my first instinct is to compare it to other solutions. I was flustered when I saw this keyboard. There's nothing to compare it to. Maybe the Das Keyboard, but that doesn't have the cherry red switches, as far as I know. The best way I can describe the user experience is a simply notion: it's like typing on a cloud. I use this mainly for gaming, but it's made a better typist out of me. I feel awkward using other keyboards, and yet, I've gotten faster at using them. Even as I lay here, typing this review on my iPhone, it's definitely changed my typing speed. I love that feeling of feedback, but it's more relaxed in this keyboard, and I love it even more for it. In terms of ascetics, it looks beautiful. I've opted to pair it with a R.A.T. 7 gaming mouse, by Cyborg/MadCatz. Since they both use red lighting primarily, both have comfortable designs, both utilize gold plated connectors, and are both pack leaders in their markets, is say its a fantastic match. In fact, to prospecting buyers, is suggest the exact pair, if not, using it alongside an M.M.O. 7, if you're more of a macro gamer. The only thing I wish is that they'd release other iterations of this board. Perhaps one with backlighting, or a wider range of buttons. I must say, I miss the volume controls on my old HP keyboard. But that's something I knew about before I bought this. It would also be nice if they sold a wireless one, for the more travel savvy, or for iPad users. All in all, it's a fantastic unit, from a brand that I am persistently impressed by. Is recommend it for anybody that uses a keyboard regularly, not just gamers. If you're an avid typist, and don't mind dropping a Benjamin for a keyboard, look no further.

Great Keyboard
I bought this keyboard as a Mechanical Keyboard I can take to work to replace works horrible Dell Membrane boards. I did get the Red Switch version. I'm actually Typing from it right now! This keyboard is a nice keyboard. Solid in construction. The Red switches are amazing to type on. Super smooth and they take no pressure at all for the key to register. You could touch type if you practiced enough. It works nice at my work since I'm at a bank. The only sound you hear is the bottoming out of the keys. Co-workers have'nt complained yet! They actually love typing on it and want one like it. Now in terms of this board being a gaming keyboard I have only used it for League of Legends and Deadlight (platformer on Steam). It is nice for League. I actually like the light touch for it. I never really slip up like I thought I would. It is a good keyboard but there are a few flaws. It seems very compact. My main Keyboard at home is a Das Keyboard and The 6Gv2 seems compact compared to it for some reason. It's just small. In the other reviews people have said the key letters and numbers wear off. I have had this keyboard for around 2 months now and There is some of the bright white color dulling but so far all the images are still there. The main thing that bugs me is the small Shift key on the right side. but after I have been typing on it for a bit it hasn't been bad at all. I think my Das Keyboard is a better keyboard for me. The blue switches with the tactile feel are amazing. Maybe I should have gotten the Black swithces? Now for a small summary! Pros: --Smooth keys (red) --Solid construction --Quieter than Blues for sure --Great for typing --Media Keys are nice Cons: --Shift key is small --Key image does wear --Seems compact --No tilt adjust or feet All in all a great Keyboard. Definitely worth the Price on Amazon. There are a few minor things I dislike, but The good overshadows it for sure. I say if you want a Red switch Keyboard that is of good quality, then this is definitely a wallet friendly one.

Good stuff, love this keyboard
Good stuff, love this keyboard. It is HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY. At least, compared to the other gel keyboards you'll get. There's quite a bit of heft to it, which is nice- it makes the not slip grip pads under it more effective. Did I mention the non-slip? It's awesome, now my keyboard doesn't move around when I vigorously type hateful messages to n00b teammates (I don't actually do that) or excitedly write Amazon reviews (I do that). Reds are supposed to be quieter and smoother, and smooth it is, but quiet it is not. Such is the way of things when it comes to mechanical. That's okay though, if you live alone or have an office where people are okay with CLICK CLACK CLICK CLACK then get this attractive lady, she'll announce herself to the world, that's for sure. The keys are somewhat sensitive, so a half click counts! The number of rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I have typed is pretty high up there, but I'm getting better. Definitely something you need to get used to! Also, the action on the keyboard is smooth, so you can actually click it down halfway. I noticed with my old poop-dell one, that it will give a tiny resistance and just go down all the way. This one will go half way, so application of pressure at all generally here will = a click whereas before an application of ENOUGH pressure would be a click. That's okay once you get used to it, and personally I love it. My WPM has increased. Or not. I don't know, I haven't tested it. But I'm guessing.

Solid!
This keyboard is solid! You can tell by the weight of this keyboard that it is a well-made, high quality product. The keystrokes are very light with the MX Cherry Red switches. This keyboard is a standard layout with no extra buttons. If you like a plethora of extra keys, then this is not the keyboard for you. I happen to like the simplistic layout; it has all the vital keys, and no unnecessary ones. And yes, I play games perfectly fine without a hundred extra keys. I can tell this keyboard will last a very long time and I am extremely happy with my purchase! I highly recommend this product! UPDATE: I wrote my original review in November 2013. It is now February 2023. It has been over 9 years and I am still using the same keyboard! I have no issues to report! This thing has seen heavy use with multiple hours per day. Every single key works just as good as it did the day I bought it. I am thoroughly impressed by the quality and durability of this keyboard and the MX Cherry Red switches. If this thing ever breaks, I will be buying another one immediately.

There only one problem!
I'll be honest about this product. First of we expect to see the keys in regular positions, which is almost perfectly achieved here, except the back/forward slash keys swapped. (some people seem to be concerned about it buy I am not, it's a rare key that I usually look and type) On the other hand, enter key is oldschool (huge), which I definitely use more than the other keys, especially backslash. Small shift is not a problem either, I never missed that shift. Although this is individual comment, key locations/sizes are perfect for me. Durability, construction etc. also perfect for me. I don't use tilting and I prefer one piece keyboard where tilting parts don't move around. This is a professional keyboard, which does not need to provide weird wrist-rest stuff or 99 programmable macro keys and media control buttons. This is a solid heavy durable typing machine in the smallest form factor possible. I prefer to keep books, drinks and other stuff on my table rather than a massive keyboard. So why it got 3 stars from me? Key resistance! Keys fall down (are pressed) when you are resting your hands on them, and you never know it. What can it cause? you can delete emails and important stuff quickly by mistake, you can issue wrong commands in the game. Another critical error: keys need to be released fully and pressed again. If you are used to slightly releasing and pressing your say "build worker" key say in "Starcraft II", it won't work sometimes and you will lack workers/units at critical times. You need to either fully release (more time consuming and defeats the purpose of mechanical keyboard) or you need to keep fully pressed (not supported in every application, depends on key-repeat time setting, makes annoying noises depending on the application). If you don't believe me, get a Logitech G15 and compare this grey zone that I am talking about. So they gotta play with the key resistance and the threshold level (how much pressing needed to type the letter) etc. I am a 10 years advanced strategy/shooter gamer who used many keyboards and I had a lot of troubles with this product in games. Most sadly, I got used to not resting my hands on the keyboard.. And now i am afraid to try other mechanical keyboards. So few pros and cons here, depending on your typing style..

Best Mechanical keyboard I've tried
Get this one, or that one. This Mechanical have been a blast for the past week since i got it home. Despite it having 1 flaw that everyone here has noted. Bear in mind that I've tried plenty of other mechanical KBs, including CM Storm, Blackwidow, Corsair, and TT. The first thing that comes to mind un-boxing is that it was built as a tank, it can take a blow or a fall quite safely too. I tried taking the keys off to have a better look at it, and taking them off was simple, as was putting them back in. As for gaming sessions. So far there have been a lot, each taking up to 6 hours. WoW, Starcraft II, DotA, and CS. The difference wasn't that noticeable in WoW, but to be fair. Mechanicals aren't made to accomodate for those games with queued actions and less apm. But it was certainly a noticeable difference with SC II, DotA, and CS. The APM jumped significantly with SC II, and actions with response became a lot smoother in DotA. As for the 6Gv2 or 7G argument. I was only 5 minutes away from getting the 7G when i noticed the different layout. For a difference of a few extra sockets on the keyboard that i don't really need, and a rest. The cash was worth it but not the layout. They are identical if it weren't for the layout. Now for Cons: 1- The printed letters did start to fade out on commonly used keys, such as WASD. I am quite sure it's not dirt too, but i already knew this when i was buying so it didn't bother me. 2- The Layout, the layouts on the SS mechanicals don't fit all known and commonly used layouts but most are close to standards. 3- You won't find typing as easy on this one if you are used to typing on plastic keyboards as i am at work. Otherwise, best peripheral purchase I've done. Enjoying it.

Great First Keyboard
Looking for a first mechanical keyboard the price of this was very much worth it. I had bought it as a Amazon warehouse deal for 73$ and came in brand new condition but not in the original boxing, oh well not that I really mind and have had it for over a year now. For the wear and tear as a gamer and just typing in general its holding up just fine. All the letters on the keys are still on with basically not much fray on the most used keys just seems mixed with a darker white (frayed/dim) and clean white but from a distance like sitting on the chair, you can hardly even see the difference, only if you look up closely so no problem for me (I also keep clean hands). All the switches are fine which I very much like the feel of the cherry mx reds. Indicator LEDs, just fine. People complain about the key placement and I was concerned about this at first but still went through with it and after all this time i don't even notice a difference as you will get used to it, kind of don't mind the big enter key but always gotta search for the correct / \ but other than that it's a good sturdy keyboard and worth the price and practicality.

Incredible keyboard. Just buy it.
I've had this keyboard for over 5 years. It's simply amazing. Still looks new. It's sensitive, makes satisfying sounds, it's sturdy, it's egonomic, it's easy to clean, looks classy (non of that 15 y/o multicolored LED BS). I have used to game (LoL, WoW, Overwatch, FO4), and I've written my doctoral thesis with this thing. The last keyboard you'll ever need, just get it.

2 small annoyances
Nice simple keyboard with a couple annoying features : 1- The right shift key is about 25% shorter than normal. This means that sometimes I hit the key beside it. 2. The media button (the one with the SteelSeries logo) means that there is no Windows key on the left side of the keyboard which is the one I usually used. It's easy to get used to these little things but still something that I would have liked to know before purchase.

keyboard is fine. but I don't like the layout for SteelSeries key. Not worth to change the habit since I already decided to spend the money for a professional mechanical keyboard. so I returned and purchased a crossair strafe with same cherry color. 5 star for people don't care about the layout.
