Pleasantly surprised
As a musician, I tend to have a bit of a bias against "toy" instruments as they are usually very poor quality and above all else, lack any real playability. My two-year-old son has shown some interest in percussion (or maybe just hitting things with sticks), so I got him this set for his birthday. Upon unpacking the box, I was very surprised at the quality of the wood. It's by no means a top-of-the-line build, but they're built like a REAL set. Upon assembling the kit and starting to tune the heads, it turns out the sound quality is absolutely solid! It really delivers a good sound for what it is and I am very happy with what we got for the price! My son is quite happy with it as well. Next investment will be drum lessons. The only drawbacks are fairly minor, especially when keeping in mind the "toy" aspect of this kit.For one, the kick pedal is noticeably lower-quality than the rest of the kit. Not only is the metal somewhat flimsy, but the tension is insane on it and is not easily adjusted. It's uncomfortable to use (yes I've tried it) and I find it very clunky and awkward.Next, the mounts aren't really great for playing. The way the kit sets up puts the snare up in a rack position with the tom and the cymbal is perched awkwardly on a straight mount above the back of the kick drum. This kit could benefit from an actual snare stand and a cymbal arm - and maybe a hi hat!But all my musician nitpicking aside, this kit is actually really, really good for the price. One could easily tweak it into a more playable configuration if they really need the kit to play like a serious one.I'm pretty sure my two-year-old is fine with this as it is.

Ok, weird But necessarY
Why would a adult who owns a full multiple acoustic/edrums set want to purchase a child's beginner set? Well, price was one of the look of the set. I needed a 14" kick to fit under a frame but it turned out the kick was perfect. With a little doctoring, this turned out to be very cool. great sound, beautiful look (black) and it added a third layer that fit like a glove. I checked many brands, they got the gold metal. Get it for your kids, get it for yourself, just get it for yourself...,................. Donnie P.

Great gift, Horrible Headache
Bought this for a niece, she was absolutely in love with it. It was easy to assemble and it was also sturdy. Gifting this to a kid of 6 years can cause headaches, they love the noise just like we love the silence.

Best little drum set
This is a well built set and little one is having a ball drumming away. Only down side was putting together the kick drum. It is for the smaller kids. I would have called it a toddler set, not a Jr set. A Jr set in my mind would be for 5 to 10 yr Olds. Otherwise, it is great!

Great buy
My great-nephew is 21/2 yrs old, a little small for his age. This drum set is the perfect size for him. I couldn't be more pleased. The only size issue is the foot pedal for the base drum. His legs aren't quite long enough to press it while he's on the stool, so he has to get off and press down hard. The pedal is a little stiff. But all of this is fine. He'll certainly grow into it. The height and positioning of the drums is perfect. The quality of the set is great. It looks like a real musical instrument. Bright, shiny black drums. The sound is excellent. There's not too much distinction between the drums, except for the bass. But they still sound good. And loud. Just what a 2 yr old wants. But they're not TOO LOUD, which I was afraid of. The cymbal sounds real too. My only complaint about the cymbal is that the lug screw on top comes loose a lot, but it's not a big deal. We just tighten it back up with a few twists of our fingers. My nephew loves playing these drums several times a day, and it's been over a month since he got them. He just bangs away. He really enjoys himself.

Unexpected delight.
The media could not be loaded. As a drummer of nearly 20 years, I struggled to scale down and purchase a kit for my son when he showed interest. I found this kit and almost didnât buy because I assumed it wouldnât be good because of setup, material, price, etc. we unboxed it yesterday for a late Christmas and my son loves it. Light assembly required; the thrown, both heads in bass drum, and legs in bass drum, and drum and cymbal holders. Took maybe 20 minutes by myself, so not bad. I am extremely surprised and happy with the actual tone of all three drums and even the cymbal. Fits my sonâs size perfectly (3 years old) and he loves it. His slightly older cousins had fun with it as well and now want their own. So if youâre looking for a nice little intro kit for young children, Iâd say this is a great option.
