Big soundand tone is a big surprise.
The "gong" was received in excellent condition, and very much as expected. The item required no assembly, and the appearance was esthetically pleasing. I had expected a so-so mediocre timber, but was tremendously impressed by the volume and sound it produced.

Nicer than I expected
I got this for my son in law. He loves Asian themed items. He really liked it. They like to hit the gong when they have friends over for dinner. Everyone gets a kick out of it.

Cute for the money
I was trying to decide between 3 & 4 stars. I LOVE IT! BUT...it is delicatly made. I read another review of the string breaking, before I bought it. So with that in mind, I handled it super careful & delicate. It is so cute & actually had a nice sound for sound therapy, but I used a foam wrapped mallet from one of my hand drums & a rubber mallet, instead of the wooden one that comes with it, & it has a very beautiful tone with the foam, as well as the rubber mallet. If they had stronger string & a better mallet, I would have totally given them 5 stars! It looks so beautiful sitting on my counter!!!

Just for looks
This thing doesn't work as even a novelty makes zero "gong" type noise whatsoever. Think hitting the lid of a can with a drumstick, kinda corny. Looks nice enough guess for the price I'm not surprised. The size is nice, but the gong is thin and the cord it hangs from is thin. On the fence about returning not sure it's worth the space it'd take up
