Dive Deeper into the Culture
I got this book because I’m translating a script from English into Spanish and I want the dialogue to flow authentically. This is a great book to take the reader into the full culture of expression. As language is the personal signature of each culture, Mexislang sheds a brilliant light on Mexican communication. It’s fun to read and gave me a great education. Thanks, Raúl Jiménez. Your book is a gift of speech.

A great resource for learning modern Mexican Spanish slang
Overall I'm a big fan of this book. It's very thorough, easy to understand, and gives lots of insight and background to the various slang terms, their origins, proper use, and comparing synonyms across other entries.I did have to take off one point though for the poor editing. There are noticeable typos throughout, a few spots where the English grammar is a bit rough, and what attempts to be side-by-side Spanish/English examples more often than not turns into skewed texts where one example sentence ends but the other carries over to another page. With a bit tighter editing and improved formatting this would be an easy 5/5 book. But even as it stands it's still a very worthwhile addition for anybody who wants to REALLY learn modern Mexican Spanish.

A Indispensable Reference for Mexican Slang
Raul's book has become an essential part of my arsenal for enhancing my knowledge of the Spanish of Mexico. As someone who frequently travels to Mexico, I routinely refer back to the book to reinforce my understanding of specific slang expressions, as well as to continue learning new words and phrases. As a result of the book, I've been able to selectively incorporate specific words/phrases into my speech when speaking with native speakers. Moreover, the book has been a great tool to help me better understand specific series/movies filmed in Mexico (such as Netflix's Club de Cuervos). I wholeheartedly recommend this book to those serious about improving their Spanish and bringing it to a new level.

Informative and entertaining
Excellent compilation of Mexican slang. Not leaning towards describing offensive words, but showcasing the extended usage that that Mexicans have given to the the normal Spanish lexicon. Funny, witty, and entertaining urban dictionary of the Spanish spoken nowadays in Mexico.

The book gives a phrase translation, but doesn’t reverse it

Helpful and entertaining!
This book was great to learn the colloquialisms of Mexican Spanish. Maybe not for polite company, but to talk more naturally among my friends(and make them laugh at what I have learned). A good purchase!

Are you actually LEARNING Spanish?
If so, and you are going to spend any time in Mexico, or even if you are going to watch Netflix shows from Mexico, you better get this book. Mexican daily conversations are filled with slang and even if you've learned a lot of Spanish you may find the conversation incomprehensible without learning what people in Mexico REALLY say when they talk to each other. This is an outstanding book written by a native Mexican, with plenty of examples. The example are important because slang terms are often used, as in English, in many different ways and with different meanings for the same words or phrases. This book is highly recommended.
