A lovely book about Comfort, Connection,Continuity & using your Vintage treasures in every day life
This is such a beautifully photographed book and very interesting reading as well, all about “creating a beautiful home with treasured objects from the past “. Bob Richter has been collecting his whole life, and here he shares his world, opening up his home in all of its Vintage glory, along with some lovely homes of friends and neighbors. And these are not only beautiful homes and objects...each one includes a little history lesson and wonderful, often heartwarming personal stories. Here we get a glimpse into the mind and life of a collector, who lives by the rule More is More! But his collections are not meant to be only looked at...they are meant to be used every day...eat off those vintage plates, drink from your favorite tea cup that belonged to your grandmother! Bob shows us how he does it and encourages us all to do the same. You'll be sure to spot some things that you probably have seen in your grandparents, or even your own home, growing up, and be filled with nostalgia, and the urge to go to your local flea market to start your own collection! If you love design, decorating, vintage objects or just plain beautiful books, you’ll Love Vintage Living 💜 This would make a wonderful gift as well- not only for people who are into vintage, but for people who love interiors, history, lovely photography or delightful coffee table books. I photographed my copy among the many vintage treasures I live with and use every day. For me, Vintage living isn’t just about collecting antiques... it is about finding items from the past that speak to me and that I can not only decorate with, but are useful as well! They bring me joy and make me wonder about who their former owners were. And they are infinitely more unique and interesting than anything I could find at a chain retail shop. I am thoroughly enjoying my copy of Vintage Living and will certainly be picking up a few extra copies as gifts! Looking forward to seeing more from Bob Richter!

Vintage Living - It is a present!
After reading Bob Richter's "A Very Vintage Christmas," I was excited to learn of his book, "Vintage Living," and pre-ordered it. Well, it arrived March 20th, my birthday, and I was NOT disappointed! The thing I love about this book is the personal touch of the author. It is clear he lives what he is talking about. The photographs are awesome, and the personal discussion of the topics makes it feel as though you are participating in a conversation with someone who really loves the subject. "Vintage Living" is set up such that you can read it straight through or by individual chapters. Because the material speaks to each reader, there is added enjoyment as it is integrated it into each person's own experience. The book is not intimidating or condescending in tone. I really liked the ideas I got from viewing the photographs displaying collections. The sections on various holidays were celebrations in their own right. The journey of objects touched me the most. Each item has a story, which Mr. Richter demonstrates so easily. Of course there is the original owner's story of the object, but then the person who next has the item carries not only the original story, but continues that story with their own experience. There is a shared connection. Whenever I am in a place that is displaying or selling vintage items, I think about the stories that go with them. And the conversations one can have with others about vintage treasures just enhances the experience. They aren't just "things." In this age of technology that often diminishes authentic interaction with others, this book is a reminder of the importance and gift of sharing our personal stories. Bob Richter facilitates opportunities to connect to the past while continuing the journey into the present and beyond. It is obvious he lives life to the fullest. Happy am I that he chose to share that with the rest of us.

Back to the Future
Have you ever wanted to fall head first into a book and live there forever?Bob Richter's sumptuous new book may well excite that fantasy, reminding you of what's important in life while surrounding you with the most beautiful - and beautifully curated - objects. The author has included photographs of his own home which are among the best in this gorgeous book, clearly displaying his erudition in the fields of design and aesthetics. As a devotee of home decor, especially vintage, I found myself devouring every page, going back again and again to experience the delight of a new discovery on each page no matter how many times I had already seen it. The stories detailing his discoveries and the memories unlocked by each are so sweet and so evocative. They will remind you of the best of your own past. Finally, what could be "greener" than cleaning up and reusing objects from the past? No greenhouse gas emissions, no new forests invaded. The stuff we need is already here - in antique stores, in flea markets, in yard sales and estate sales - and the fun is in finding it. Mr. Richter shows us how.Thank you to Mr. Richter, author, Mr. Yund and Mr. Drummond, photographers, and finally to Rizzoli , the publisher, for making such a keepsake of a book. It will live on my coffee table and in my heart forever.

Older Traditional
I was a little disappointed with this book. Most of the vintage stuff is older than I like, a little too traditional. I prefer flea market style tending to the 50's and 60's. This is definitely much older vintage. Everything seemed a little too dark and formal for me.

No No
It felt like I was visiting a junkyard through a book, not for me!
