Dickies Men's Sanded Duck Insulated Vest

I am a home A/V technician, which means I'm constantly going back and forth between my van and the clients' house. It's usually warm in my van, and definitely warm in the homes, but Utah winters can get pretty cold. This vest isn't enough to wear by itself if I were working all day outside, but it's plenty to keep the chill off if I run out to the van to grab some parts without making me too hot once I'm back inside. Layered with a long sleeve shirt or hoodie, this has even kept me warm while shoveling the driveway or walking to the end of the street to get the mail. My wife can tell you that I wear this thing all the time now, and I'll probably be getting at least one more.The duck canvas is very soft right from the get-go, not stiff or rough like some other brands. The insulation was not quite as heavy as I expected, but this is a good thing, because like I said before, it keeps the chill off when I'm outside without being too hot indoors. I was a little unsure about the sizing. There was Medium, X-Large thru XXX-Large, and Long, but no Large. I wear Large shirts, definitely not XL, but I'm not what I'd consider tall (5'9", 185 lbs), so I went with the Medium, and it's a perfect fit.

I really love this vest and use it daily . I needed something to keep my core warm but isn't to warm for when I'm more active at work and heating up and the freedom of my arms . The liner was heavier than I was expecting and I was pleased as some types of jackets like this have basically no warmth liner . I did notice the soft collar "balls up" a little from use but not a big deal or noticeable unless looking . I also wear this over layers when I need it .It does run large so buy a size smaller than you would normally . I usually buy a large and bought a med and its perfect and I can layer under it .

I like this vest...a lot. It is the perfect option for when it's chilly outside but not bitter cold. I typically where it over a hoodie with a casual T shirt as my base layer and here in Spokane WA that has actually been pretty comfy when the temp was in the low 30s. The two exterior pockets are perfectly located and amply sized. The two interior chest pockets are also amply sized. You can fit large phone in the interior pockets easily. For reference, I have a Note 10+ and if fits easily. It will also fit a subcompact pistol with Sticky holster as well and does not "print" it. The outer material appears to be pretty durable and coarse which I like. Also the inner lining is very comfortable. The insulation is actually a little thicker than I anticipated which contributes to it's usefulness in lower temperatures.I would definitely recommend and/or buy again.

My workplace is just cool enough to need a vest while indoors and as soon as the door opens to receive a delivery it goes straight to cold. Shopped around a bit and bought this vest based on reviews and the reputation of Dickies work clothing. Initial impression as soon as I open the package was good. Stitching looks good quality, the fabric on the outside feels broken in unlike some other cardboard like work wear-probably not as durable though, the lining is very comfortable and not too warm, the collar is awesome on this vest-comfortable and it sits against the back of your neck keeping out drafts, nice zipper and large zipper pull, two unlined pockets on the outside that are plenty big for your hands and two interior pockets that can absolutely swallow a cell phone or a large wallet. The fit is a little large. I am 6'4"-265 lbs and an XL(regular length) fits with the right amount of extra room for a medium weight shirt, without being snug when I sit down. TLDNR Good quality vest, fits a little large, great value.

Fleece vests are lighter and more comfortable, but attract cat hair like magnets. The Dickies vest does not attract pet hair at all. Down stuffed quilted vests may be a bit lighter and a bit warmer, but are much more expensive, and do have that quilted look to them. The price was right for this Dickies vest. With house temperatures in the high 60s and me at 73 years of age, I am very comfortable with this vest, even just sitting still reading the paper.Getting the right size was a problem for me, but it is my problem, not Dickies -- I am right on the line between L and XL. Half my shirts are L, the rest of my shirts and all my sweaters and jackets are XL. The XL vest was slightly too large for me, but the L is close to perfect.If it had been available in navy blue or deep dark red, I would have given it 5 stars. But the chocolate brown is OK. I like the large sturdy zipper.

I love this vest. I wear this everyday during the winter with a hoodie or lined flannel. I’m working outside a few hours a day during a pretty mild Indiana weather. This keeps me warm and allows me freedom of movement. I sprayed it twice over a 48 hour period with waterproofing fabric spray before putting it into use and it’s held up great. I’m a pretty athletically built guy and with a hoodie on and the vest it’s pretty much as tight as I would want it on my chest and plenty of room left in the bottom half if you happened to have a belly.

I used to be a diehard Carhartt guy, but unfortunately they have outsourced much of their production and now the price difference between Dickies and Carhartt is not worth it. Dickies makes a fine, durable product, and since they both produce most of their products overseas, you might as well save the money and buy Dickies. Before now, the only reason I went with Carhartt was because it was USA made.

Size down, if you think you wear a large, the medium will fit perfect. at least in my case, ymmv.The material and fit is great, but the zipper could have been sewn in better, its like the material was pulled tight and the zipper sewn in loose, so it makes a wave pattern when zipped up, its annoying to look at and feel.The other problem, and i understand this can be a reginal thing so not taking a star off, the zipper pull mechanism is on the wrong side, at least for my 50+ years of wearing things with zippers, it should be on the left when looking down at it, but its on the right, and you may be thinking no big deal, it is when you have to undo 50 years of muscle memory about how to do up a zipper:)Over all i like the product, it adds a layer of warmth that i was missing when my 20 year old snap-on vest finally had to go.

This is a nice vest as described. It is not heavy weight material but solid enough. Finish is fine, few loose threads but no complaints. Bonus point is the two interior pockets. Sizing was fine as took note of reviews, normally wear large & bought medium. One observation is it could do with being slightly longer in body, come to just below waist. Another 2-3 inches and would be perfect. Definitely recommend.

Nice, really nice quality. Bought 2x but found it was oversized. It would fit like a perfect 2x with a very thick sweatshirt under. If not, armhole gapes, neck gapes.Recommend sizing DOWN 1 size if intended to wear with a regular shirts. Return process completely painless. I returned both (bought 2) and returned for smaller size.

Just about perfect. I don’t like my arms restricted till the snow flies so this vest is warm on my trunk and drops down well below my kidneys which is important in the cold.Inside pockets hold my phone and wallet and are deep so just below my rib cage.It’s intended as a work vest I guess so no surprise it is not restrictive to activity.
