avoid Friedrich at all costs ...
After extensive research, I purchased a 8k Friedrich window air condition in April. I wanted a quiet air condition with a sleep mode. I could not try out the air conditioner until June, so the return period from the seller had passed. The unit is defective and makes a very loud rattling sound. I installed properly, and even moved it to another room and the rattling sound is clearly coming from the unit. In addition, in sleep mode, there is a bright blue LED that lights up the entire bedroom. The unit is useless. I called Friedrich, and they told they need a diagnosis report from an authorized HVAC contractor since they do NOT have any service people in my area. First, that is odd because I live in Boston MA. Really? No service people in a major city? They told me I have to find and pay for the HVAC person and refused to stand behind their defective product.

What happened to quiet?
I’ve owned an older Friedrich Chill Premiere 8000BTU for ten years. It’s been reliable and super quiet. That was Friedrich’s reputation— it had the quietist models. It was a two piece unit that had a sleeve. I upgraded to the new model. It is now one piece and so freaking loud it’s like living by an airport. Even on the lowest settings it was unacceptable. Now allegedly there is a different one they have that is quieter but that reputation took a hit and I’m not sure I would buy this brand again.

DO NOT BUY FRIEDRICH! UNITS FAIL AND NO WARRANTY
We bought three Friedrich Premier Chill CCF08A10A in 2022. Two of the three units have now failed. When I called Friedrich customer service (that description is a joke), they told me I had to get a diagnostic report to determine if the units are covered under their 4-year manufacturing defect warranty. I spoke with several technicians in my area. They did not offer service for window units, but told me it was up to Friedrich to get a technician to me since they are requiring the diagnostic report. I spoke with Friedrich several times and was stonewalled. The Friedrich website states “We’re Here for You! Need a question answered? Trying to solve a problem? We're here to help. Friedrich’s Customer Care Center is located at our headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. Let one of our dedicated customer service professionals help you.” They are NOT willing to help and they do NOT care about their customers. We are replacing all of our units with GE air conditioners.
