This is pure copper wire, very flexible and nice to work with. As other's have stated, it does have a bit of a smell at first, but airs out after a while.To those claiming this is CCA (Copper Clad Aluminum) it is not.Some ways to tell the difference:Price: Copper will be more expensive than CCAWeight: A Copper wire will be heavier than CCAFlame Test: Strip the wire and spread out some of the strands and hold a flame to them, if they melt and shrivel and glob off you are dealing with CCA. If nothing happens it is copper.Always use pure copper wire, the extra cost is worth it. Using CCA means you have to de-rate it and you are risking fire.Now, about the claims this isn't the right AWG: The diameter of the copper was measured around 5.4mm and according to the tables it should be around 5.19 so that checks out. Most websites show 4AWG being 21.2mm square for the cross sectional area, a few claim 25 so I am going with the majority and say 21.2mm squared, meaning this cable IS 4 AWG.However, I will add that in my own experience, I crimped on a 4AWG lug and used a hexagonal die crimper and not only was the result a very squished lug, I was able to pull it off just using my hands. I am not sure where the disconnect is, the lugs I used say they have an inner diameter of 7.2mm and again, 4AWG is 5.18mm so why is it almost 2mm larger?So I am using 6AWG terminals that seem to work well and are not coming off.I don't know if my crimpers just aren't up to the task or what.So I am removing 1 star simply because I am frustrated that I purchased 4AWG lugs that didn't work and would have liked to know I needed 6AWG from the get go. Future buyers be warned.Other than that, a very excellent cable and good to know pure copper is still out there.

I used it with my car stereo amplifier and it worked great! Pure Copper! My JLAudio 1000W RMS was cutting out with 8 guage wire. Switched to this and used it for the ground too, solved the problem and it sounds amazing. Arrived very quickly! I would recommend this product.

Pricy but received very quickly.I misread the listing and was expecting both red and black. My fault for not noticing I only picked red.
