Excellent. Just buy it, you will not be disappointed.

This is a really nice candle-style butane lantern. It burns clean and bright, and flickers like a candle. You can crank it up as high as you want until it starts making black smoke. I enjoy using this as a desk lantern while surfing the web in the evening, or listening to music with the lights down. It's perfect for a warm ambience, you can carry it and see where you're going around the house late at night, will be very helpful during a power outage, but you're not going to be able to read a book next to it in the dark. You'll have to go with an LED lamp (and deal with battery power) for that.I have two other butane lanterns in the class, made by Camping Moon. They're essentially the exact same burner mechanism, and they are very nice too, maybe even better looking. But what I don't like about those, is that you have to removed the glass pipe to light them, and the two rubber rings that hold the glass in place can deform and eventually wear out. This Fire-Maple allows you to either spin the globe and light it from the opening, or just pop the globe off, light it, and pop it back on.The Camping Moon model comes in a very nice wooden box which securely holds the lantern for travel and storage. The Fire-Maple comes in a basic 2-piece plastic container, and the lantern rattles around inside of it. Frankly, I like both designs and they perform equally well, but I prefer the Fire-Maple slightly more for its easy lighting. Also, you can set the flame about 30% higher with the FM, though you'll run through butane faster of course. These butane "candle" style lanterns, regardless of brand, are going to offer "maybe" 2x the light of a wax candle, and that depends on wick height, etc. Tea lights may likely provide more runtime, and butane is an expense to consider, and paraffin oil lamps are another option to consider.Personally, I own and love them all. You just need to decide which you prefer for different occasions.

Great, lightweight product

I was a bit nervous trying one of these. Usually, with such a simple idea, there's something that screws it up.Amazingly, I couldn't find a thing wrong with it. It's brighter than you'd expect. Blowing the Snowpeak version out of the water with brightness. It'd make it plenty bright enough on the table to play cards or other games. It hardly burns any fuel. I have an isobutane can that I've had for a few years and had used exclusively on my JetBoil. It has been nearly empty for a few outings. I decided I'd empty it with this lantern. Figured it'd be done in the first night of this most recent trip. But I ran it for probably three hours, and there was STILL fuel in it. Next night, two hours and still fuel.I was running it as high as the glass, so it was going good. This will definitely end up in my backpacking kit!Definitely a good product and worth the money.

Solid light

Solid little light, can be used with canned fuel or with propane with the correct adapter. It’s not as bright as a newer led lighr but adds nice mood lighting and is the perfect way to burn up canisters of fuel that only have a small amount left that would not be great for cooking a full meal.

Reselled a return?

The packaging was completely smashed. It looks like it was a return and they resold it. The product worked just fine and appeared unscathed. Its an over glorified candle, not a lantern in any sense. But if you want a expensive gas powered candle, go for it. It does have a nice flame and seems to be very protected from the wind. It will look nice on the table.

writing titles is the hardest part of a review

1. At 6.55 oz including the hard plastic case (4.30 oz for only the breakable lantern), this is probably not something that you'd typically want to take backpacking, but for the back porch or at the car campsite, it's great.2. It can almost replace a campfire by providing some light and giving you something to look at.3. I guess you could use this indoors, since people have indoor gas stoves, but I just use it outside.4. Instead of having to take off the glass to light the stove, you just turn the glass to expose the hole and then turn the glass to the rear to close it.5. The bronze color looks good.No complaints, does exactly what you want it to do.

Surprisingly very durable!

I live this light, very comforting and does not use much fuel. I have dropped it tipped it over in rocks and hiked with it out of the case it comes in and no problems!Highly recommend, way lighter than trying to bring enough power packs for flashlight in a week long trip.I have backpacked 3 times with it be used for about 10 hours and still in the first small tank of fuel!Great “analog” addition to all the “high tech” stuff, simple but brilliant, kudos to the designers.**hint** took me awhile but if you turn the glass there is a little opening for venting when windy, like a little chimineya….

"Fire-Maple Orange Lantern: Looks Cool, But There's a Catch

The media could not be loaded. So, the Fire-Maple Orange Camping Lantern is pretty much a showstopper. It's got that vibe that makes your camping buddies go, "Ooh, where'd you get that?" Made from glass, steel, and aluminum, it's sturdy and has that classy look that makes you feel like you're camping in style. It's versatile too, working with propane or isobutane canisters, and the best part? No hassle with mantles. Just turn it on, and you're good to go.But here's the thing—it's not all perfect. The flame control can be a real mood killer. Imagine trying to set the mood or just get enough light without playing a guessing game. Kinda annoying, right? And the price? It's up there. You'd kinda expect everything to be spot on for what you're paying. So, while it's a beauty and can definitely add some pizzazz to your camping gear, be ready to deal with a bit of frustration. If you're cool with that and have the cash to splash, go for it. Otherwise, you might want to keep looking.
