Safari Ltd.Weedy Seadragon Figurine - Lifelike 8" Model Figure - Educational Toy for Boys, Girls, and Kids Ages 3+

I have a fairly large collection of plastic animal replicas, and this weedy sea dragon is my favorite. Looking at it reminds me of when I saw a weedy at an aquarium and I will never forget it – the most beautiful aquatic creature imaginable.People that have seen the toy at my home have no idea what it is, which is not that surprising. As I understand it, the Weedy Sea Dragon is endemic to Australia and is a near threatened species. This makes me think that this replica would be a great teaching tool for kids that are interested in sea creatures. As far as play goes – this seems to be a quite sturdy and well-made toy – as are most of these kind of plastic replica toys (Safari Ltd., Schleich, Papo). This toy is a decent size – several inches long – I found that to be a surprising bonus. I love my weedy sea dragon and I am sure others that collect and play with replica toy animals would be happy to add this to their collection.

This charming toy figure is not an exact replica of a weedy seadragon because some of the "weeds" along the back that actually are pairs are represented as single elements. On the toy only the major "weed" on the back is presented as a pair as is the "weed" that is on the stomach. The white spot on the tips on the "weeds" and on the tip of tail are also missing. However, I suspect that adding those details may have put the cost too high, and the figure itself is still sufficiently accurate to be a very welcome addition to anyone's collection. Besides which, it is just so adorable! The weedy seadragon can reach lengths of about twice the length of this toy. Found off the southern coast of Australia, weedy seadragons, together with their relatives in the same sub-family, the leafy seadragons, are considered as "near threatened". Both fish can be seen at various aquariums in the U.S.

Very beautiful and vibrant

Stuck a magnet on him and he is moving about the kitchen. From the stove to the refrig. when the stove is in use. Just found him so interesting and cheerful and most who visit are not even aware of these splendid creatures of the deep. Fun that everyone has to tough him and a fine conversation occurs with every new guest. He is not as brightly painted as the image in the ad shows, but more subdued.

I just recently discovered the Leafy seadragon and the Weedy seadragon. Never knew they existed. My students and I have been studying them. I just happened to come upon these toys while searching for books and I was so excited!. They are well made and so fun! Thank you for producing them. Excellent value!

I TRY AND GET OUR 2 YOUND ONES TO WATCH EDUCATIONAL TV PROGRAMS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AND LET THEM EXPERIENCE "HANDS ON" THINGS WHEN AVAILABLE. WE WENT TO A FEW OCEAN AQUARIUMS LAST SUMMER AND THEY LOVED SEEING OCEAN LIFE AND BEING ABLE TO TOUCH AND FEED STING RAYS, FEEL A FEW DIFFERENT STAR FISH AND THE SLIMY SQUISHINESS OF A SEA CUCUMBER. I PICKED UP SEVERAL OF THESE PLASTIC OCEAN TOYS FOR THE BATHTUB FOR OUR SON AND DAUGHTER. THEY ABSOLUTELY LOVE PLAYING WITH THEM IN THE BATH AND I LOVE THAT THEY ARE SO DETAILED AND A GREAT FUN WAY TO EDUCATE. I PLAN ON BUYING MORE.

je l'aie achetée pour faire de la déco pour la salle de bain sur le thème marin j'aie accrochée un filet au mur et installer l'hippocampe dedans/// très ressemblent à l'hippocampe en vrais ainsi les couleurs .

Als Dekoration im Fischernetz des Partykellers verwendet, erfüllt seinen Zweck, aber die Farben entsprechen nicht den Produktbildern und es ist auch nicht so detailliert ausgebildet worden wie ich es gern gehabt hätte. Also für meine Zwecke brauchbar, wird aber bestimmt irgendwann durch ein besseres Exemplar ersetzt werden.
